If the validation fails 1) Verify VCenter Name or ESX is correct in the credentials. 2) Verify that the UserID is correct. 3) Verify that the "use port" number is unchecked. 4) Check to make sure that the BACKUP HOST is correctly entered ADMIN GUI > HOST PROPERTIES > MASTER SERVER > PROPERTIES > VMWARE BACKUP HOST 5) Verify that the backup host is correctly entered 6) Verify that the backup host is in the SEVERS list of the master server. NOTE: If only a client needs to be added to "additional servers" 7) If all this checks-out correct enable logging on the backup host. 8) Modify the following registry on the Backup Host server to gather additional information in the NetBackup log perform the VMWare task. Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\NETBACKUP\CURRENTVERSION\CONFIG\ NEW KEY called BACKUP NEW DWORD called vmcloglevel MODIFY and give it a value of 3. Create the BPVMUTIL log. Review for any errors. 9) If still not able to resolve this issue check the BACKUP HOST for hung BPVMUT IL.exe and/or BPFIS processes. Kill any hung processes. Please note the BPFIS pr ocess are for VMWare backup jobs. Stopping these process will cause the associat ed running vmware job to fail.
