Marriage date: 7 Apr 1796; Research found the family of John George Nicholas, born
about 1741 in Straight Creek Pendleton Co. Va., and his wife Barbara, born about 1743
in Straight Creek Pendleton Co. Va., who had a son named William Nicholas (Sr.) who
was born in 1769 in Renick, Greenbrier County, Virginia. William married Isabelle
Daugherty (or Dougherty) on April 7, 1796, in Bath, Virginia. Isabelle also was born in
1769. Possible children of William Nicholas and Isabelle Daugherty were: i. Barbara
Nicholas, born 1796 in Virginia, married Reuben Rader, born 1795 in Virginia. They
lived in Vermillion County, Indiana, by the time of the 1830 census. 1830 U. S. Census
for Indiana, Vermillion County, Township - Not Stated, Roll 26, Page 228, Reuben Rader
household, males age 15 and under 20 = 1, males age 30 and under 40 = 1,females age 10
and under 15 = 1, females age 30 and under 40 = 1, Reuben Rader was born in Virginia
in 1795 and lived somewhat close to William Nickles at time of the 1830 census. The
wife of Reuben Rader was Barbara Nicholas, born 1796 in Virginia. ii. Elizabeth
Nicholas, born October 20, 1805, in Virginia, died May 4, 1868 in Perryville,Vermillion
County, Indiana. She married Jacob Riley, born February 10, 1803, in Hardin County,
Kentucky, on July 1, 1830, in Vermillion County, Indiana. iii. George Nicholas, born
circa 1807, married Elizabeth Oxford on February 16, 1827, in Vermillion County,
Indiana. iv. William Nicholas, born March 13, 1809, in Virginia married Mahala Shute
on June 11, 1835, in Vermillion County, Indiana. v. Margaret Nicholas, born circa 1811,
married John Cade on August 13, 1830, in Vermillion County, Indiana. vi. Ann
Nicholas, born circa 1800, married John Hollingsworth on August 15, 1839, in
Vermillion County, Indiana.

period. From there he and Barbara moved to Roanoke, VA, then to OH before 1825,
and then to Chicago, IL. He moved to Vermillion County, IN and finally to Monroe,
WS. Spouse: Barbara Nicholas, Birth: Greenbrier Cnty, VA, Death: abt 1855, Perrysville,
IN, Daughter of Dr. William Nicholas."
