How to Create a NationStates.

1. Go to nationstates.net on your web browser.

2. Click on New Nation in the top right corner.

3. Choose what type of government you would

like for your country. Which government you
choose changes the social freedoms, economy, and political freedoms of your
country. These can all be changed over time,
though, so your choice here isnt
permanent.

4. Answer the 8 questions below. You can do

this in a number of ways. You can either
follow your heart and choose based on your
own opinion, choose whichever options give
you the stats that you want, or randomly press
answers and hope for the best.

5. Choose the origins of your country. This has less effect on the stats of your country, but it
can help you develop your nations backstory.

6. Now you get to finally name your country! The website will automatically add a
classification or title to your country, like Republic of... or Empire of.... You cant remove
this title, but you can choose which one it is right below the box where you enter your name.

7. Now you can choose your flag. This can very easily be changed later, so what you choose
now doesnt matter so much. You can only choose from a list of flags that exist in the real world
at this point, but, later, Ill show you how to make your own flag.

8. Choose a currency, national animal, and motto for you country. The currency should be in
singular form, like dollar, chocolate kiss, or tyo. The animal doesnt have to be
something that exists in real life, like a deer or salmon, but it should at least be recognizable, like
a dragon or unicorn.

9. To finish this off, give your email and a password that you can remember. The email is
important in case you ever need to recover your password.
10. Make sure that you check I agree to the NationStates Terms & Conditions and click
Create Nation.

11. Congratulations! You are the leader of a brand new nation! First, go to Telegrams at the
top of the page.
There should be a
1 in a red circle
(as shown in the
picture). This
first telegram is from the computer, welcoming you to the website. Later on, you will get lots of
recruitment telegrams asking you to join peoples regions. If you want to prevent this from
overcrowding your inbox, go to
Preferences, go down to the table, and
change Recruitment to Block All, as
shown in the picture. Make sure that you
press Update Filter.

12. In your Issues tab, you should have four newspapers. These are issues, and they are
essentially the only interaction you get with your country. In an issue, you are approached with a
problem in your country, along with two or more choices for a plan of action. Choose the person
that you agree with the most, and it will bring you to a new page with the effects of your
decision. Some choices raise and lower your freedoms, economy, and stats, so try to choose
carefully so that you get what is best for your country (or worst, if youre a cruel dictator).

13. There isnt very much left to do now but wait for more issues to pop up. Another issue
should appear in the next half-hour, but, after that, it usually takes a few hours for new issues to
pop up.

14. One option is to create a

flag for you country. Open up
Paint or other drawing program
and create an image that is 750
pixels wide by 500 pixels tall.
Now design your very own flag
and save it under your countrys
name.
15. Now go to the Settings tab and scroll down to the National Flag. Click on create your
own flag! and it will bring you to a page where you can upload the image you made before.
Click on Choose File, find your image,
and upload it. Also, you can check
Ripple to the right of the button to add a
fancy ripple effect to your flag. Finally,
submit your flag and see it on your page.

16. Congratulations! You are now the proud leader of your very own country! Be sure to visit
when you can to solve issues and build your nation stronger.
