INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
ASME Student Design Competition 2014 | Montreal, Canada (July 2013 - April 2014)
Overall Objective: To design a remote aerial vehicle that can carry cargo, fly among obstacles, drop a
payload at a designated spot, and be able to do these actions in minimum possible time.
Managed and co-lead a team of 12 students over a time period of 7 months.
Designed Quadrotor frames of various designs, functions, performance and materials using Solidworks.
Created a very fast, light, and easy to integrate dropper mechanism to drop a antecedently placed payload.
Constructed a remote controlled Blimp(Lighter Than Air) for longer fight duration and monitoring.
Winner,Asia Pacific level competition, BITS Pilani, India .
ASME Student Design Competition 2013 | San Diego, California (October 2012 - April 2013)
Overall Objective: To design a small remote vehicle that can be navigated using a video feed, and is
capable of performing pickup and drop task in fastest possible time.
Developed a Remote Inspection Vehicle for navigating hazardous indoor environment.
Vehicle could be remotely driven using live feed, and capable of delivering small payload.
Designed a mechanical gripper which worked autonomously and was the fastest gripper for the said task.
The vehicle was later used in IIT Bombay to explore a room that had a leopard trapped in it.
Runner Up, World Finals.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Monte Carlo Simulation of Interfacial Energy Calcuation in Solid-Solid Systems (July 2016 - ongoing)
Overall Objective: To study the changes in interfacial energies in Nickel Aluminum Superalloys, at low
curvatures of the interface using Monte Carlo simulation, and statistical analysis.
Designed, developed, and tested the code and are benchmarking it against measured physical parameters.
Wrote an extensive and comprehensive documentation, for the code, in order to facilitate future work.
Softwares and platforms used: GNU-C, doxygen, GNU-gdb, valgrind, GNU-gprof, Octave, GNU-Plot.
Achievement: Was awarded an AA grade for my work.
Soft Magnetic Composites (April 2014 - July 2015)
Fabricated polymer encapsulated iron powder composite using silane-epoxy surface coating
Improved material response in high frequency magnetic fields.
Boosted resistance in a cold compacted specimen, resulting in low eddy current loss.
Attained uniform coating of 50nm on the iron powder, and verified it using TEM
