Throughout this semester of taking AP Psychology I have learned how

and why people think the way they do. Also I have learned why they choose

the actions and thoughts that come to mind from situations. The chapters

focused on developing a person, their states of consciousness, personalities,

psychological disorders, stress and health, perception, and sensation,

neuroscience and behavior, the nature and nurture of behavior, learning,

memory, thinking and language, intelligence, motivation and work, therapy,

and social psychology.

The Neuroscience and behavior aspects of psychology focuses on

neural communication, the nervous system, and the brain. While studying

this aspect we did a project that helped us understand the placements of the

nervous system and the brain. The nature and nurture aspect of psychology

is focused on evolutionary psychology, behavior genetics, environmental

influence, and the nature and nurture of gender. The developing person

aspect of psychology focuses on parental development and the newborn,

infancy and childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. The sensation aspect of

psychology focuses on sensing the world, vision, hearing, and other senses.

The perception aspect of psychology focuses on selective attention,

perceptual illusions, perceptual organization, and perceptual interpretation.

The states of consciousness includes waking consciousness,

sleep and dream, hypnosis, drugs and consciousness, near death

experiences. The learning aspect includes classical conditioning, operant

conditioning, and learning by observation. The memory aspect of

psychology focuses on the phenomenon of memory, encoding (getting

information in), and storage (retaining info.). The thinking and language

includes thinking, language. The intelligence aspect includes the origins of

intelligence, what intelligence is, assessing intelligence, the dynamics of

intelligence, and the genetic and environmental influences on intelligence.

Motivation and work includes motivational concepts, hunger, sexual

motivation, the need to belong, and motivation at work. Emotion focuses on

the theories of emotion, embodied emotion, expressed emotion, and

experienced emotion. Stress and health include stress and illness, and

promoting health.

The personality is about historic perspectives on personality, and

contemporary research on personality. The psychological disorders were

about perspectives on psychological disorders, anxiety disorders, mood

disorders, and schizophrenia. Therapy includes the psychological therapies,

evaluating psychotherapies, biomedical therapies, and preventing

psychological disorders. Social psychology included social thinking, social

influence, and social relations.
