Hello

Skills
I have well developed people and oral skills thanks to working as a sailing instructor and mentor in
clarinet playing. I multi-task well and enjoy a fast paced work environment, but a peaceful one is
good as well because my lack of focus allows me to find ways to be productive even without a million
tasks to accomplish. I am organized and approach my work enthusiastically and positively.

Education
September 2014 - Present
Traverse City West Senior High School

I attend Traverse City West on a college preparatory track and plan to graduate either a year early
or with my class in 2018. I dedicate myself strongly to my studies and balance them with musical and
athletic ambitions.

Northwestern Michigan College

I attend NMC as a full time dual-enrollment student beginning this past fall (2016), and what a
positive environment it has been! At the college I am much more autonomous and able to be in
2

charge of what I learn and at what pace in line with my instructors. Still prerparing for college
beginning in the fall of 2018, not locally as far as I know.

HOBBIES:

I sail competitively and have since the age of 12. I love the water an incredible amount
but sometimes need a break from the pace of it all
I have picked up gardening as a type of therapy- it increases my levels of focus, happiness,
and peace. I have over thirty house plants, mostly succulents and cacti and have recently started
propagating them! I'm super excited about that because watching plants grow and learning about
them just helps me lead a fuller life.
I eat a plant-based vegan diet for my health, the planet, and every animal and human on
it.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

This past year I applied for and was accepted into the Harvard Pre-College Program
for the summer of 2017, and plan to attend a class on Neuroscience!
In order to fund this Harvard experience I applied for an was awarded a summer
scholar title through the Joyce Ivy Foundation. The scholarship and the financial aid award
in partnership with Harvard because of it totalled around $3000. This money will go
towards knowledge and experience that will lead me forward towards an impactful college
career (and beyond!)

VOLUNTEERING

Member of NHS at TCW beginning my unior year- volunteer in the form of peer
tutoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and other things through this organization
Member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society beginning in the Winter of
2017 at NMC
I volunteer through Traverse Area Community Sailing in their Adaptive Sailing
Program
I am beginning to be more involved with the Vegan activism movement- this is
definitely unorganized, but also an impactful and important part of my life.
I am facilitating the beginning of a SEA Club chapter here at west (Students for
Environmental Action)
