A Look Back
In this class we went over the importance of essays and what is expected from each one.
These essay were considered of three which were narrative, argumentative, and in class essay.
Each essay was specific and you learned new ideas and concepts. This class helps you maintain
an open mind and helps you improve your writing. I learned things about myself like my
weaknesses and my strengths. What i learned in this class has to stick with me for the next and
every other class. Every english class will go back to a topic that I learned in this class.
In the class I learned that I have huge weaknesses but some strengths. My weaknesses in
the class are actually transitioning into the topic of the essays. Another weakness has to be the
fact that I have too many run on sentences. My strengths are understanding the topics better and
actually taking my time to read and understand what they're expecting from me. In some essays
we were given the book They Say I Say which helped us out as well. That book had lots of
The activity that I feel actually helped me learn had to be the argumentative essay since I
did research on the main topic. The research helps you because you read more into depth with it
and it blows your mind on what you're actually writing about. Another activity that helped me
was the presentation of Henrietta Lacks. Although our group had a bit of a difficulty meeting and
rehearsing the powerpoint it still helped me learn the right ways to research. My least favorite
had to be the narrative because I couldnt think of anything, nothing was coming to me my mind
went blank.
In life you have to keep improving to get better. Practice makes better right? What I
would love to improve on has to be better vocabulary for essays, better topics for myself, better
writing, and a better way to break down what they really ask to write about. Some other things i
wish to improve have to be the way that I start to talk about the topic. I have this habit to always
add a rhetorical question and I really would like to stop doing that because I feel that it throws
readers off. I have to improve on many other things as well. Run on sentences needs to stop as
well because they never end nor do they relate to what Im talking about.
I will apply what I have learned in my future, when I begin to start going to my English
101 class starting in July. Also, this is gonna apply to me because I will need it in whichever job I
get hired at. The job I am in right now I need it because i have to be persuasive about selling.
Selling you need a good vocabulary and you gotta sound enthusiastic about the items such as the
shoes and how comfortable they are to your feet as well as cleaners that i sell. For my career that
I really hope to reach, which is to become a veterinarian, i will need English a lot especially for
reports on an emergency or any such thing like that. I will have to communicate with my nurses
on what the animal needs. English will always be an important subject throughout educational
