I am replying to your request for access to information held by the British Columbia Rapid Transit
Company (SkyTrain), an operating subsidiary of the South Coast British Columbia Transportation
Authority (TransLink), received in our office on June 22, 2010.

We have identified 47 pages of records that are responsive to your request. Throughout the records,
areas that are shaded indicate the exact locations where information has been withheld, or "severed,"
from a specific page. The attached "Requester Report" indicates each page where information was
withheld and the basis for withholding that information.

Third party personal information has been withheld pursuant to section 22(1) of the Freedom of
Information and Protection of Privacy Act ("Act"), as release would constitute an unreasonable
invasion of privacy. The Act requires public bodies to withhold third party personal information in
these circumstances.

Please be advised that, under section 52 of the Act, you have the right to ask the British Columbia
Information and Privacy Commissioner to review TransLink's response to your request. You have 30

The above reference request asked that the following be provided:

"The incident report for the derailment of SkyTrain cars that occurred May 26, 2010 at King
George station; the April 30, 2010 inspection and maintenance report for the vehicles involved in
the May 26 incident; the inspection and maintenance report for the same vehicles after the May
26, 2010 incident; and a master list showing the results of the fleet-wide inspection for brakes
and other defects that happened after May 26, 2010."

In response the following has been attached:

An overview of the incident - this has been provided to explain that the inspections were
focused on vehicle 141 that dropped the caliper and that the inspection is still ongoing.
Incident reports.
April 30 inspection report - the only inspection performed on April 30 was for cars 141
and 142 (a married pair). This was a minor inspection that is part a of a scheduled
maintenance process based on kilometers driven.
A listing of all vehicles in the series of cars related to the derailment (500 to 800 series)
performed on May 26, June 17 and June 22. Also included are detailed work orders for
the train that lost the caliper (cars 141 & 142 and cars 145 & 146) for those same dates.

As per usual, in order to protect the identity of our employees, please ensure that the employee
