Your task: Write a 600-800 word analytical essay on one of the following topics:

In Whale Rider, how does the director use filming techniques to highlight Pais
courage?

In the film, Pai says, I was not the leader my grandfather was expecting. And by
being born, I broke the line back to the ancient ones. How does the director of
Whale Rider use film techniques to challenge the idea that only men make good
leaders?

Pai isnt the hero her grandfather wants, but shes the one the community needs.
