Pressure Test Procedures
1. Purpose
The purpose of these procedures is to ensure that pressure tests are conducted safely
and effectively. They cover pressure testing of new and existing pressure systems
or components at a test pressure more than 0 psig. They apply to mechanics, supervisors,
inspectors, custodians, and subcontractors responsible for pressure tests.
2. Procedures
Pressure tests are performed to ensure the safety, reliability, and leak tightness of pressure
systems. A pressure test is required for a new pressure system before use or an existing
pressure system after repair or alteration.
There are two methods for pressure tests: hydrostatic and pneumatic. A hydrostatic test is
performed by using water as the test medium, whereas a pneumatic test uses air,
nitrogen, or any non-flammable and non-toxic gas. At PILOT BOAT, pressure tests must be
hydrostatic unless pneumatic tests can be justified.
Pressure tests must always be performed under controlled conditions, following

an approved test plan, and documented in a test record. A single approved test plan
may be used for several similar tests, but a separate test record is required for each.
2.1 Hydrostatic Test Procedure
Hydrostatic is the preferred method of pressure test at SSME

There are many types of pressure systems designed under American Society
of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code.

4 Recordkeeping
The following recordkeeping requirements apply for this procedure:
The custodian of a given pressure system must maintain copies of test plans and records.
The pressure systems program manager maintains copies of all pressure test plans and
records, permanently.

Pressure Test Procedures
Tujuan.
Tujuan menjalankan ujian tekanan ke atas sistem paip ini adalah untuk mengesan sebarang
kebocoran pada sambungan sistem paip dalam pilot bot.
Ujian ini hendaklah dilakukan dengan pengawasan daripada QA/QC berserta dengan pipe
fitter dan wakil daripada kakitangan bot.
Prosedur Ujian.
1. Sebelum ujian dilakukan,pipe fitter hendaklah memastikan peralatan untuk menjalankan

ujian telah disedian. Peralatan tersebut adalah
1) Kompressor
2) Hos angin
3) Meter Gauge
4) stop valve
5) spray buih sabun.
2. Jumlah tekanan udara yang akan dimasukkan kedalam paip adalah sebanyak 1.5 bar dan
tidak melebihi 2 bar.
Setelah udara bertekanan dimasukkan kedalam paip,valve akan ditutup dan dibiarkan
selama satu jam setengah.Air sabun akan disembur pada setiap sambungan bagi mengesan
kebocoran pada paip.
3. Sekiranya ada kebocoran pada mana- mana bahagian paip,ujian hendaklah dihentikan,
bahagian yang bocor hendaklah dibaiki dan ujian kebocoran akan dilakukan semula.
Jika tiada kebocoran,ujian tersebut telah berjaya dan ujian akan dijalankan pada bahagian
paip yang lain.
4. Rekod ujian yang dijalan hendaklah ditandatangan oleh QA/QC dan wakil daripada
Pilot Bot setelah ujian selesai dijalankan.

Prosedur Ujian.
1. Sebelum ujian dilakukan,QA/QC hendaklah memastikan peralatan untuk menjalankan

ujian telah disedian. Peralatan tersebut adalah
1) KAIN BURUK
2) MARKER PEN
3) Dye Penetration Spray Equipment :
i) Cleaner / Remover spray
ii) Penetrant spray
iii) Developer
2. Lap tempat yang hendak diuji dengan kain buruk bagi menghilang kotoran dan sembur
cleaner/remover pada tempat yang akan diuji.Lap semula kesan cleaner/remover
tersebut.
3. Sembur Penetrant spray yang berwarna merah dan biarkan selama 5 hingga 10 minit.
Selepas itu lapkan kesan penetrant spray dengan kain buruk sehingga bersih.
4. Akhir sekali sembur Developer yang berwarna putih bagi mengesan rekahan atau
kebocoran pada plate atau kumai welding.Biarkan beberapa minit.
Kesan rekahan atau kebocoran akan nampak selepas itu dan hendaklah ditanda dengan
marker pen.
5. Tempat yang bermasalah tersebut hendaklah dibaiki semula oleh welder dan setelah
siap ianya akan diperiksa semula oleh QA/QC.
6. Rekod ujian yang dijalan hendaklah ditandatangan oleh QA/QC dan wakil daripada
Pilot Bot setelah ujian selesai dijalankan.
