Explanation
The expression is based on a story about a donkey and a
tiger. One day the donkey came to live in the tiger's woods and the
tiger was frightened because he had never seen a donkey before. After
long observation, the tiger realised that the donkey was not very
fearsome. Eventually, the tiger jumped on the donkey and ate it.
