PHIVOLCS-DOST
REDAS GIS-based Software

Developed by PHIVOLCS in 2002

PHIVOLCS started sharing the software to LGUs at no
cost to strengthen the capacities in mainstreaming DRR into
their local development planning process. LGUs will
formulate their local CCA-DRRM plans and programs to
serve as their guide
The software can also be used for emergency
preparedness and contingency planning
REDAS GIS-based Software
A decision support system (integrated multi-hazard
mapping and damage assessment tool)
wherein a user can simulate and produce hazard and
risk maps for the following:
seismic hazards such as ground shaking,
liquefaction, earthquake-induced landslides and
tsunami
hydro-meteorological hazard such as floods,
storm surge, strong winds and rain-induced
landslides
Risk Assessment Information, i.e. physical
damage to building, human casualties and
economic loss.
Exposure Database.
REDAS Training Module

Includes lectures, hands-on practices, field surveys,

workshops and presentations.

Upon request, a special session on how to

mainstream hazard assessment into
contingency plans, land use plans, and
emergency preparedness and response plans
Possible Initiatives of LGUs using REDAS
Benchmarking/Profiling (Geographical,
Administrative/ Political Profile.)
Mapping of Elements at Risk (Exposure Database)
Hazard Characterization (hydrometeorology &
Geologic hazards)
Analysis and mapping of the disaster impacts to
population, infrastructure and economy
USGS and Philvolcs data
