Verification Problems 1

PRECIS
This volume contains documentation on a series of verification problems that have been solved
using FLAC 3D. The verification problems are tests in which the FLAC 3D solution is compared
directly to an analytical (i.e., closed-form) solution.
Table 1 presents a summary of the FLAC 3D verification problems contained in this volume. The
table also identifies the specific FLAC 3D feature that is examined in each problem.*

* Verification problems for the optional features thermal analysis, creep material models and dy-
namic analysis are in Section 1 in Thermal Analysis, Section 1 in Creep Material Models and
Section 1 in Dynamic Analysis, respectively. Verification problems for the structural elements are
also in Section 1 in Structural Elements, and for fluid flow in Section 1 in Fluid-Mechanical
Interaction.
