The Point of No Return: As Hunger Plagues the Masses
Thousands Apply for Federal Positions
Would you apply for a job you were
completely unprepared for? Throughout the
weekend thousands across the United States
rush to do just that as federal positions open
to the suffering public. Why the sudden
influx of appeal towards government jobs? It
comes quite simply down to one word: food.
Weeks have past since the blight hit the
wheat crop and as the farmers try to solve
the issue and replant their fields, a drought
seems to have hit the entire country. Hunger
spreads as food stores run low, and people
have started to panic.
There is hope however, and it lies in
the hands of the governments leading
scientists.
News of the
GFU Pill
continued to
spread since
its release to
government
officials
back in 2080; over 20 years ago. This tiny
pill, relatively tasteless and about the size of
your pinky fingernail, could provide one

with all of the nutrients, vitamins, minerals,
and calories needed to live a healthy life. No
hunting, farming, cooking, or chewing
required. It is very efficient, especially for
the military who must be equipped with
such nutrition for long periods of time. Now,
civilians, especially those who were
struggling before the blight hit, rush to enlist
in any job, military or not, that might gain
them access to this wonder pill.
Despite this increase in the GFU
popularity, farmers still try to bring their
lands back to
their former
bread-basket
glory. Sadly,
Mother Nature
is not
permitting.
Leading
weathermen have foreseen an unfortunately
long spell of dryness in the near future. The
government helps in the only way they can,
they open more government jobs. Still, as
food production nearly plateaus, its prices
skyrocket. Apprehension spreads for the

future of farms, and many farmers join the
march towards government jobs promising
the GFU Pill.
Amongst the farmers and struggling
lower class exist the workers of the meat
packing industry, restaurants, bakeries,
coffee shops, and fast food chains. As
hundreds replace food with the GFU Pill,
owners of food establishments have slowly
begun to lay off their workers from lack of
demand. Those workers are searching for
jobs that can provide them with enough
money to pay for their rent, electric and
water bills, healthcare, but above all: food.
Jobs that can provide this outside the
government are scarce, and usually require
degrees and experience in fields that most
are unfamiliar with. Thus, these jobless
groups join the ranks ready to be issued
federal positions.
These government jobs are generally
specific tasks, expected of federal positions.
Coding and
computer
sciences, law
enforcement
positions,
CIA and
intelligence
listings, engineering, and of course the
military. However, it possible to expect
these jobs to become more simple as time
goes on and the demand for them becomes
higher. As more and more people apply for
these positions, jobs will have to be created
that may not have existed in abundance
before. Examples include: building bridges,
building homes and buildings, mining, and
growing social security. However, it is not

unreasonable to assume the military will
continue to be a plausible job option for
many, especially the youth, as it requires
less prior preparation but still promises the
prospect of the GFU Pill and welfare. In the
very near future, the task one is assigned
may not be significant to them, as long as
they are receiving the GFU Pill.
The government now gains the
dependence of thousands. Thousands
depend on these jobs for their life, their
liberty, and their pursuit of happiness. The
government is fulfilling their promises in the
U.S. constitution, written over 200 years
ago, and seems to be succeeding in
protecting these ideals by distributing the
saving grace of world hunger. However,
could this dependence from the people
eventually give the government too much
power? If thousands depend on the
government for their life source, then one
could wonder if the ruling party might take
advantage of these people or manipulate
them to their will.
Regardless of these thoughts, the
future of the GFU Pill seems bright. It could
save millions from death and even lead the
people of the United States to become
healthier versions of ourselves. On the other
hand, it's possible we could foresee the end
of the restaurant and slow food movement.
Healthier fast food options may present
themselves in the hopes of matching the Pill
in nutrition and efficiency, however it seems
that the government has taken hold of the
food industry indirectly, and we may have
reached a point of no return for food in our
country. Food may no longer be necessary,
as its cost in time and money could be too

great to ever return to when the weather is

not forgiving and the GFU Pill provides an
efficient, cheap, and easy source of
nutrition.
In conclusion, the movement
towards government jobs seems to have
occurred as a direct result of the blight and
approaching drought, as well as the promise
of the wonder pill to the starving population.
This shift in the economy could lead to the
creation of more jobs, the distribution of the
GFU Pill at a greater scale, and possibly the
eventual decline of the food industry.
