RXBOX PROJECT

What is RxBox?

The RxBox is a medical device developed by Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine
Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD-DOST), UP Diliman-College of Engineering (UPD-
CoE) and UP Manila-National Telehealth Center (UP-NTHC) and was designed to provide better access to
life-saving health care services most especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas
(GIDAs) in the country.

This 6-in-1 telehealth device facilitates fast diagnosis of patients conditions and consists of a blood
pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, electrocardiogram (ECG), fetal heart rate monitor, maternal tocometer
and temperature sensor.

What your plans on RxBox?

At present, there are 115 units deployed in pilot sites nationwide which have demonstrated positive
results in supporting maternal and child health care and identification of patients needing control of
chronic non-communicable diseases thus contributing to the overall goals of Kalusugang Pangkalahatan
or the Universal Healthcare Program.

DOST will now be expanding the projects coverage area to reach out to more people in the countryside.
In Central Luzon, 50 devices are to be deployed in qualified LGUs at one (1) RxBox unit per LGU which
satisfy all pre-validation criteria.
