Mixon TITLE OF LESSON: The


Ms. Carrillo American Progressive Period
Mr. Palomo

LESSON SUMMARY:
Students will learn about education during the Industrial Revolution, and how progressives
worked to reform the way children were/are taught. names of important people who fought
for education.

DO NOW Assignment:
The class will have a think-pair-share moment to answer the question, How do you think
education was during the Industrial Revolution?

OBJECTIVE/ SMART Goal:


80% of the class will score a 75% or above on the American Progressive Quiz.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED: 12. Understand the environmental, social, and economic impacts
of decisions. Career-ready individuals understand the interrelated nature of their actions and
regularly make decisions that positively impact other people, organizations, the workplace,
and the environment. They are aware of and utilize new technologies, understandings,
procedures, and materials and adhere to regulations affecting the nature of their work. They
are cognizant of impacts on the social condition, environment, workplace, and profitability
of the organization.

MATERIALS:
- Powerpoint
- Google Form
ANTICIPATORY SET:
The class will have a think-pair-share moment to answer the question, How do you think
education was during the Industrial Revolution?

TEACHING/ PRESENTATION
(What does the teacher do?):
We are going to present a powerpoint on the american progressive period .

GUIDED PRACTICE (What do the students do?):


Students will ask questions and the teacher will answer. Any clarifications will be made. We
will discuss questions like how do the classrooms then compare too the classrooms now

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:
Students will talk with their groups and share their thoughts on education back then.
Students will shared their answers in front of the whole class and a discussion will be
started.
We will also do a venn diagram on handouts given, comparing school then and now.

ASSESSMENT:
Formative:
Students will do a quick write on questions in the textbook pertaining to the text.

Summative:
Students will answer a series of questions in an assessment on a google form as a group.

ELL MODIFICATIONS:
We would have the text and questions translated also work with the students individually.

SPECIAL NEEDS ACCOMMODATIONS:


For students with glasses, we will sit them somewhere where they believe that they will be
successful. For students with ADD, we can give them a copy of the powerpoint where they
can go back and review just in case they missed something. For the student with dyslexia, we
can make sure to present with a soft voice where they will be able to understand us and we
will make sure to work with them individually just to clear up any misunderstanding or
mistakes.

CLOSURE/ REFLECTION:
During this Lesson Plan, I learned so much for future lesson plans. I was very thankful to have
Ricky as a partner because he knew alot of background information which really helped make
the lesson more efficient. I was able to maintain eye contact with the class and talk without
looking at the slides too much. The only problem I had was letting myself out as in be more
enthusiastic and not show that im somewhat nervous. Time management was a problem in
this presentation because we didnt even have time to do the assessments at the end. But
overall, this lesson went pretty good. Maybe next time, the lessons will be even better and well
be able to do everything that is planned.
