Report
Brief
Unit 54

Client Meeting
I did complete a client meeting for unit 54 assignment 2. Before I started doing
any other work for assignment 2 because the client wanted to tell me
everything about the assignment to make sure I do it completely right and
dont go off script.
Robert Eastwood

Evaluation
I didnt do an evaluation in unit 54 assignment 2 but I did do one in unit 54
assignment 4 so I will show this instead.
Evaluation

Effectiveness

Extent to which brief has been realised

I have done all the things that were on the brief including an A3 poster, CD cover with a spine and a logo. I made sure I did all the right
dimensions for my CD cover and the poster. The main task is to make graphics for the band The Pixels that is told to me in the brief. The
last part of the assignment was a file conversation report; I looked at the range on the brief to complete this. In all I used the brief to
complete the assignment, and like any assignment I try to stick to the brief as much as possible as it ensures the grade.

Use of Appropriate methods and techniques

I used Adobe Photoshop to make my graphics, which is the best option for me because I know how to use Photoshop because I have used
it so many times before. The tools I used are most are the shape tools to make the pixels that are floating around on all my work this is
done with the rectangle tool and the ellipse tool to make the circle to put the social media colour and name in. I have also used the paint
bucket tool quite a lot as well because whenever I needed to colour in a massive area then I could use this tool to colour in the entire area
instantly. Another tool I used in most of my work is the text tool, which I used to write the name of the band in cool fonts; including a
downloaded font called stranger back in the night, which looks like a bold, clear but cool and rocky font. I also used the Gill Sans Ultra Bold
Regular font a lot as well because it is so clear and easy to read. I also used the magic wand tool which I used to highlight certain area and
remove them so that I could used the rest of the picture without the background in it, for example I did this for the picture in the middle of
the P in my logo as that had a background and I had to remove it. I also used the eraser tool a lot because of the mistakes.

Level of professionalism achieved

In my opinion, I have made a professional poster and CD cover, as I believe you could have seen them in a shop. When I was creating my
graphics, I made sure that I keep it looking professional throughout and to make sure I keep my work to a high standard. I also made sure
that I finished everything before the deadline to make sure I get a grade and I think that show professionalism and the ILP helps with that.
I tried to remain as professional as possible. I did this by creating a diary, the diary kept track of dates, things I did in the lesson and aims of
the lesson.

What message your final versions communicates

I think my graphics shows professionalism and will seem real. I think if I saw my poster on the street, I would stop and see what it is about
because it is so colourful and appealing to look at with all the different fonts. I also think if I saw the CD cover it would be appealing also
because the poster and CD cover have so similarity with the pixels and the font and the logo people could recognize things from the poster
and be interested in the CD because of that.

Problem Solving

I did not really have any problem when creating my graphics. The only problem I had with my work is that I did not fully understand what
the dimensions were for the CD cover and the poster so I had to change from A4 to A3 for the poster and I had to make my image size
bigger for the back and spine for the CD cover.

Skill Development

I have some skills in Photoshop but I have expanded my knowledge in Photoshop by finding out how to change the size of the canvas and
image after you have started and I have found out how to make text look 3D and how to move it around when it is in 3D mode.

Areas for Improvement

I think if I were to do this, again I would stick to my original plan of making it a bit darker because it is a rock band instead of going with the
loads of colours everywhere look even though I do like it. The storyboards I designed first off lacked in detail, they were very simple, had a
lot of colour, in turn making it hard to look at for inspiration and to use as a plan. Using a storyboard as a plan in this assignment was
something big that needed to be completed properly. I spent a lot of time designing so I almost ran out of time to do my checklist and my
asset evidence and I think I went through it fast so I would not be surprised if they are not at distinction level.

Sources of Information

Self-evaluation

I believe my performance for this assignment was good and I am trying to get a distinction so I have to work hard to get to a distinction.
The design part of this assignment was very time consuming and it took up a lot of my time, which I needed to do other part of the
Robert Eastwood

assignment. I have an ILP, which tells me how many lesson to complete my work, but I spend so much time on the creative side of the
assignment that I went of what the ILP said. However, I recorded all my progress that I made every lesson. The work I produced in the end
is good and I am happy with it and I think the work looks professional and I am happy with the position of all the graphics I have made on
my poster and my CD cover. I do not think I would add anything to them, as they are all so full with the little pixels. The creative side of the
assignment was enjoyable, as I loved making the CD cover, poster and logo. I enjoy using Photoshop more than any other program made
by Adobe so using it that I have used so many times made it more fun and a lot more easy to do.

Documentation

I had an ILP for this assignment and I used it to see when the deadline is and how long I have and the targets for each lesson and I also did
my session reviews and wrote what I had done in each lesson. I have also made my diary which shows all my steps to making my graphics
with the poster first being made then the logo and then lastly I made my Cd cover and all of how I did it was on the diary and it had dates
on it show you can see what I did on each day and I had my aim for each day of there as well. I also made a checklist, which shows all the
tools and techniques I used on Photoshop with examples and information. I also made a word document called asset evidence which
showed where I have saved all my work and I have made a file conversion word document which says what I can save my graphics as.

Production Process

Pre-production- Planning and Preparation

This unit is has four assignments in it and two of them are planning and preparation. The first assignment is about preparation. I did
planning as part of assignment 2. The idea of this to create something that describes develops and establishes what formats, dimensions,
layouts, concepts and images are suitable to meet the needs of the brief. In assignment 2, I also made my storyboards. I had three
storyboards in total; one for a poster, one for my logo and one for my CD cover. The storyboards were a great way of planning, I managed
to stick by them and it made it a lot easier when it came to decision making in the production stage of my graphics. The proposal was a
good method of planning and it took a long time to complete due to not having many lessons so it meant a lot of ideas and thought were
put into it.

Production, Time Management and Project Management

I think I have not managed my time great for this assignment as I had barely anytime to do the checklist, asset evidence and file conversion
document. Without the ILP, I would not have given it in on time. It is helpful as, it states what needs to be done each lesson and there is a
section for session reviews which means I can add targets for the lesson. This documentation is helpful, it makes time management easy,
and it makes the whole unit organised and structured.

Monitoring work in progress

I feel this was very helpful to monitor progress, as it was a reminder that work needed to be done. I feel an appropriate way of doing this
would be making an ILP, I have mentioned this in the evaluation. However, I think an ILP is a great method to monitor what work has been
done and what work needs to be done.

Technical Competencies

I feel comfortable with Photoshop, and I know how to use simple features. I am aware of how all the tools on the tool bar work and I am
aware of what some of the features do in the advanced menu. I planned my graphics knowing what I could and could not do. I planned to
cover areas I was comfortable with, but also stretch outside the box and try to learn to do some new things. As far as technical
competencies, I did not really have any. I planned well and knew what I could and could not do; I also knew what I was going to do
because I used the band The Pixels last year.

Creative Ability

I did a lot of research when looking to make my cd cover I looked at rock bands such as Guns N roses album. I wanted influences of a
great variety.

Own Work and Teamwork

I am happy with the way I produced my work. I bettered my skills on Photoshop, I learnt some new skills. I managed to blend and I feel I
pulled this off successfully. I am happy with the way this assignment turned out.

Finished Product

Compared with original intentions

I have not changed what my original intentions are as I have used the storyboards and I have not changed anything. The colours are
similar, images, and themes. I am also going to add some images below this section of album cover designs to get an idea of how much I
stuck to the original intentions.

Appropriateness to audience
Robert Eastwood

Originally, I was asked to design and create a range of promotional materials; a logo, A3 poster and CD cover, following the animated web
banner I created last year. The content is designed to be launched nationally and possibility to an international audience and market place.
The content is for the Pixels.

Content and Style

After ruling out the idea of having a text in a simple font, font available to everyone on Photoshop I decided I wanted a font which is
extreme, its different; so I downloaded a font from the website DaFont.

As you can see from my evaluation I have included quite a lot of detail about
certain things. I have compared back to my original plan and said why it hasnt
changed at all.

Diary
I also didnt have any diary in assignment 2 but I did have one in unit 54
assignment 3 which I will now show.
Diary

20/03

Aim: Begin work on digital graphics on Photoshop.

Evidence:

I have started my A3 poster by making the background orange. I think my background for my CD will be a similar colour, as I want to make
everything look similar so it could be seen as all part of The Pixels product. I have set the canvas size to 29.7 x 42.0cm. I also changed the
name of the first layer to Background.

I have added the start of the text to the poster, which is the name of the band. I have used the 3D tool on Photoshop to make the title
stand out more because I want this to stand out more than anything else on the poster. I have used the stroke tool to give it a green
outline. I didnt like how it looked so I had to edit it slightly before moving on to the next part of the poster, this included moving the 3D
title around until it looked the best it could which took around 15 minutes.
Robert Eastwood

I have also added the rest of the title and added live tour at the top to show the poster is for a concert. I have used the stroke tool to give
all the text an outside line to everything for the Pixels one I used green to make it stand out more to the rest of the words. The live tour
and The Rockin are in grey and then have a black outline so they are easy to read and I think it looks good on the orange background.
For this I have used the font Gill Sans Ultra Bold Regular as it is easy to read and the size of The Rockin font is 108.46 pt and the Live
Tour font is 74.18 pt. I have used a similar colour grey to what is used in the title. I made sure my logo was on its own layer and
positioned it into place using my storyboards.

I have made all my pixels on the screen using the rectangle tool. I have used loads of different colours and I have tried to not have the
same colour next to each other. I have also put the names of The Pixels social media accounts. I have not given these pixels outline like the
ones I will do later on because there are too many one on this for the outline to help. This bottom bit of information is needed as it is the
contact information and the social media font is 42.91 pt size and the font is Agency FB Bold. The website address is also Agency FB Bold
but it is a bigger font size of 49.57 pt.

I have now added all the dates and locations for the tour that The Pixels are going to have. I have also added borders around the social
media accounts and the dates and locations so it looks a bit more organised. I have used the font for the text because it is easy to read and
easy to read from a distance. All the font size for the tour dates is 25.75 pt and the font is called Gadugi Bold. I did all this using the text
tool I made sure the text has a lot of spacing and all close together and looks rushed.

Learnt: Completed 1 of my graphics

21/03/17

Aim: Continue making the graphics.

Evidence: I have decided to change my background so it is a night sky inside of a boring orange background and so it looks less cramped I
have removed some of the pixels or made them smaller and made the logo at the bottom of the poster smaller. I wanted to make sure
everything was similar that is why I used the orange background but a background like this looks a lot better with the font and the font I
had to change to white but I think that looks better as well; with the black and blue background behind it. I have started making my logo
but I have decided to add it on this first.
Robert Eastwood

I have finished my Poster and I can now save it in different ways I will save one as a PSD and one as a PNG.

I will show how I made my Logo. There are some settings I am using when creating my logo. The resolution is 1200x500.

I have started by making the colour pattern which I will continue making the same pattern. I have decided to use a pattern and I think it
will just give it some more detail then it just being a boring P. This is how may logo looks on the storyboard as well just with different and
better colours.

I have made my P shaped logo. I have made a pattern and I have made it link correctly with the blue ending on the green in the middle of
the P. Which I was not expecting but it makes it look a lot better so I am glad it worked out like that. I think I could have made this logo 3D
but I wasnt sure if it would improve it that much so I decided to leave it for time reasons as I needed to make sure I could finish my CD
cover graphic. Plus if it was 3D there could have been gaps between each of the squares which would have made the P look weird with
parts of it missing.

I have finished my logo by putting a picture of the band The Pixel in the middle of the P. I made sure to find a band with four members as I
send in my previous work that they are a four member band. I had to find a stylistic picture as well as this is The Pixels logo so it will be
used all the time and be associated with them for ever probably so they will not want an embarrassing picture there.

My front cover for the CD is 12 by 12 and then the back and spine is 14 by 13. I got the size of the spine by using a ruler to making the
normal size of the square a bit bigger in width.
Robert Eastwood

I have started my front cd cover and I have used the same font for the word The Pixels as I did for my poster and I have put my logo at the
bottom left just as I did for my poster. I have done a colourful line under the word Pixels so it stands out even more. I have put the name
of the CD on as well which is called Absolution and I have put the first and last letter which is A and N in green because it makes it stand
out and look interesting and less simple. I did this instead of using the glow effect because I have used the glow tool a lot so I thought I
would change it up so it doesnt get so similar. I have changed the positon of the logo on this CD cover as on my storyboard the logo was
on the back of the CD cover but I think this gives the logo a more important place on the CD and also make the front cover look more full
as on the storyboard it was quite bland.

I have started adding pixels onto my front cover now to make it look fuller. Im making the cover look like the poster in different ways.

I have finished my front cover for my cd cover by adding a good amount of the pixels around the screen to make it look full.

Learnt:

I have completed another graphic and have done half of my last graphic.

22/03/17

Aim: Continue making graphics on Photoshop

Evidence:

I will now start the back and spine of the CD cover.

Robert Eastwood

I have started by making sure the back and spine backgrounds are the same yellow as the front cover.

I have used the Gill Sans Ultra Bold for my text for the list of songs because it is bold and easy to read and I think you could read it from a
distance. I have changed the placement of the songs from what I did on the storyboards. On the storyboards they would be on the sides
and not central. I have decided to change because I think it looks better like this, I will be adding the different coloured pixels afterwards,
and I think it would look better surrounding the writing then in between it. The font size of the songs on the back of the CD cover is 14.39
pt. The font size for the tracklist name is 21.55 pt. All the tracks are combined together in layers, I have done this so it is easier to edit
them as a group.

I have added the orange part where all the information will be on including a barcode, social Medias and website. I have made it orange
because it stands out and doesnt contrast with the background.
Robert Eastwood

I have added the two things on the spin of the cover. It shows the Pixels name in the font I have used on the front cover and poster. Then I
have added the name of the album Absolution; Which is in the same font as the pixels name but I have made the first letter and last
letter A and N green again as that is what people will notice because that is how it will always look so it will be easy to recognize and also
standout because of the bright green colour and the cool font.

I have added the pixels that I wrote about before. I have tried to even out the different colours so there is not too much of one colour. I do
prefer this to how I had it on my storyboard with the pixels just being place wherever they could fit; I think this look much netter.

I have added a barcode and a copyright sign to show people cannot copy the music as it is illegal and all CDs have barcode on so they can
be sold. I have also added the website at the bottom of it so people can go to the Pixels website if they need to.

I have made a darker orange to put the social media names in just to give it more to look at and to make it not look all the same.
Robert Eastwood

I have now finished the back of the CD by putting The Pixels names in the dark orange box; I have made little circles with a letter in which
tell you which social media it is. I have used the colours that are used by that social media as well, so the blues that Twitter and Facebook
use I have used in there circle and Instagram has a purple.

I have decided to change the size of the writing on the spine. It will be smaller and will not have the name of the band on it and just the
title of the album.

I have added asset evidence, which shows where I have saved all my graphics and my word documents.

I have added a file conversion word document, which shows the appropriate file format for my logo, CD cover and Poster. It shows you a
lot of information about the file option TIFF.
Robert Eastwood

I have also finished my ILP with a review on each day. Including the deadline day which I finished my graphics and all my word documents.

I have now finished my work for the deadline today as I have completed all my word documents and all my graphics that are shown on the
checklist, which shows everything you need in this assignment.

As you can see from my diary I have not only put in all of the Photoshop
graphics design but I have also put what I wrote about for some Word
documents such as an ILP, File conversion and asset evidence. The diary is also
very detailed for the Photoshop part because the diary is supposed to be there
so other people can also make these designs and to do that they will need a
detailed diary.

Questionnaire
I didnt do a questionnaire in unit 54 at all so I will use a questionnaire from
unit 32 assignment 4.

I also did a questionnaire evaluation for the questionnaire I did in unit 32

assignment 4.
Questionnaire Evaluation

This is my statistical analysis of my questionnaires. I will be writing about 2 of my questionnaires that came through; the two most
different questions as least.

Question 4: Do you think my ident

looks professional?

Yes No

The graph above shows that most people think my ident looks professional but some people think it could look better. If I had most time I
would improve my ident to make it look more like something you would see on TV. But as most people think it does look professional then
I dont really think I need to change anything really.
Robert Eastwood

Mostly everyone thought that my video was appealing but some people didnt so I need to maybe add some more colour or some more
transition effects into my ident but just like the previous chart it shows that most people thought that is was appealing and for that reason
I dont think it needs to be improved if 8/10
people dont have a problem with it.
Question 6: Is the video appealing In conclusion I think that my questionnaire
has shown that my TV ident is good enough
and has nothing wrong with it including the
2 sound works and all the videos play right and
the titles come up on the screen at the right
time. Most of the questionnaire answers
were all the same so I could only really only
8 choose these two anyway.

As you can see I have

Yes No gotten my information
back after handing out
my questionnaire and I have looked at it and done my statistical analysis.

Legal and Ethical

I have found a document in unit 60 and 1 and it is legal and ethical.
Legal and Ethical and Codes of Practice

Copyright Laws:

The Copyright act was created in 1988. It was introduced for two reasons. One, making sure peoples hard work is rewarded and two, to
make sure that the creator never has their work stolen. Before 1988 people didnt have really anyway of protecting their work. This law
covers a lot of different types of multimedia. This applies on copying MP3, software, images, text, videos and songs. You are breaking the
copyright law if somebody creates something and you take what they created without their permission. The copyright law also forbids you
from giving a copy to a friend, making a copy then selling it, renting the software without the permission of the copyright holder and
unless the licence allows it you cant use the software on a network. Names, titles, colours and short phrases may not have enough
substance to make it into the copyright law and win you anything in court but a with some sort of creation like for example a logo you can
different say that is under the copyright laws. In the UK, you do not have to apply or register because the laws of copyright are enforced
automatically. The copyright law lasts for a lifetime and an extra 70 additional years after you die. After it has run out the copyright will be
given down to the next closes person in your family. The copyright holder is the only person who can authorise the reproduction of their
work. With images there is always the option to use stock photos, which are photos where the copyright owner has decided to open them
up for the public to use freely. If you are able to actually pay for assets, you dont necessarily buy the copyright to the image but you can
buy the right to use it. With software you can buy a package then what you have done is purchased a license to use that package legally. If
people use it than the package bought originally stated, then this is illegal. you could also offer a site licence, this is a lot more versatile
and means that the software can be loaded onto every machine in a building like a school. In my project I must ensure that all these
considerations are applied to my project and that is kept fully informed of any breach of these. I will have some things on my website that
are copyrighted such as the picture of the earth on the logo and the pictures I will include on the individual pages about the things you can
do and also there are videos from YouTube that could be copyrighted.

Ethical Consideration

When working with a media product, restrictions always apply in regards to exactly what you can and what you cannot say. This is to
protect people from things such as racist comments which may not only offend people but cause even bigger problems. The internet is not
somewhere you can escape these rules. It is hard to break the rules on the internet because things can be tracked. Different media jobs
such as television and radio presenters have to follow more restrictions. If someone finds anything offensive they can sue the company for
a lot of money. Rules to avoid this include:

You are not allowed to use a picture; sound clip or video of anyone unless you have their permission.
You cannot make a verbal statement about an individual which is abusive. This is Slander.
You cannot make a written statement about an individual which is abusive. This is Libel.
You cant use any part of someone elses work without their written permission first.
You have to be careful how you represent and describe content and characters in your work because you dont want to offend
and seem bias and inaccurate. This applies to race, gender, sexuality, disability, regionalism, age, class and nationality.

. It is essential that when I am designing planning my project that I take into consideration all of these things and ensure that all acts are
compiled with. To make sure I dont break any copyright laws I will gain permission for all the images I get of the internet. Online payment
Robert Eastwood

is handled by PayPal secure payment facility. Payment can be made by any of the following methods: Visa, Master Card, Delta, Electron,
Maestro or PayPal balance (if you have an account set up).

Codes of Practice

The Office of communications commonly known as Ofcom, is the government-

approved regulatory and competition authority for telecommunications,
broadcasting and postal industries in the UK. Ofcom was initially established by the
office of communications act 2002 and received its full authority from the
communications act 2003.

The Press Complaints Commission(PCC) is a voluntary regulatory body for British printed
newspapers and magazines which consist of representatives of the publishers.

The Advertising Standards Authoring(ASA) is the UKs independent regulator of advertising

across all of media. The Advertising Codes are applied and the work includes acting on
complaints and checking media to take action against misleading, harmful or offensive
advertisement.

The British Interactive Media Association(BIMA) supports individuals and organisations which deliver high quality, creative and innovative
media solutions.

Unit 78
Brief
Robert Eastwood

Diary
I also had a diary in unit 78 assignment 3.
Diary

12/12/16

Aims- Start production of graphics

Evidence-

I started by creating my character Graphic.

The first thing I did was get my character design from unit 72 and I used that but I knew I need to add more to it. I had already added his
green eyes and black parts onto his outfit.

Then I needed to add some smaller features to make the character seem more interesting than just someone who wear all black. So added
a sword and then rotated it so it looks like it is on his back.
Robert Eastwood

The next feature I made was a grey background that I had got rid of some of the opacity of it so it looks more shadow then just a
background.

The last thing I did for my character was I added a colourful medal around his neck to give him something else then just a black outfit and
the medal would be a part of the story anyway so it needs to stand out that is why the colour red it in the centre because it stands out
next to the yellow. I added a white border around the medal so the black can be seen as you wouldnt see it as the background it is on is
also black. I also added words on the medal which say Magic and Power which suggests what the medal gives you. It is hard to rid
when looking at the full character but a close up shows the words.

I then added some affects to the medal because I wanted it to stand out but not as much so I added some effects and I gave it an inner
shadow and changed some things with the bevel and emboss effect.

I finished my Character Graphic.

I have now started my HUD (Heads-up Design)

I have started by getting some hands that looked like the person would be looking down.

Learnt- That the HUD graphic will take me a few lessons to finish.

13/12/16

Aims- Continue with the HUD graphic and try and finish it before the end of the day.

Evidence-

The next thing I did was add some sleeves to the hands using the brush tool using a black for the sleeves then a dark grey for the inside of
the sleeves. This the same colour as the character to show that this is the same character as you can tell from the colour of his sleeves.
Robert Eastwood

Then I added a circle with a red outline which was going to be the mini map to show you where you are.

Then because I know Im going to make the background dark I need the circle to be darker so I added the same circle but this time got rid
of the red circle and made it transparent so it made the circle look darker.

I then did the same thing to the health bar by making it as it is normally then making the same shape but as a shadow.

Next I added a road and some block on the map to show where houses are on the street.

Next I got a blade which the character would have in both his hands and moved it around in his left hand to make it seem like he has it up
his sleeve but at an angle and then I duplicated it and moved it to the right hand.

I then added a bit for red to the tips of each of the blades to make it seem like some killing has been done with droplets falling onto the
ground.

The next thing I did was add the dark grey background suggesting it is dark and hard to be seen. I changed the opacity to make it seems
foggier and dark instead of it being purely a background.
Robert Eastwood

The next thing I did was add two lines which showed where the road would be.

I then added a middle line and then used the paint bucket tool to fill in the area with a brown colour to differentiate between the walls
and the road.

I then added doors on to the side of the road.

I then added some information that shows the missions you have got to do and it is in the Another Danger font which I will use for mostly
everything as this will be the games own font.

Learnt- I think the HUD graphic still looks a bit bland so Im going to add some more details next lesson.

14/12/16

Aim- Finish HUD graphic as soon as possible and start the poster and game cover graphics.

Evidence-

I added lines in on the side showing where a new building starts and ends and I also added some windows which make it look much better
and less bland with some good detail.
Robert Eastwood

I have finished my HUD graphic.

I am now starting my Poster.

I started off by putting my character from my character graphic at the centre of the screen. I was at first going to do it so it was just the
characters face but when most of the characters face is covered up I didnt think it would look that good so I decided to use the character
graphic instead.

I then added a cool foggy dark background that looked like how the game would look.

I then added a picture of some houses to the background but changed the opacity so they fade into the dark foggy background.

I then added the character sword on this back to keep the same theme going.
Robert Eastwood

Then I started adding the writing first I added the name of the game which is the main part we want people to see so that is why it will be
the biggest font.

I then added a Rockstar Games logo at the bottom of the poster as they are the one that are making the game.

I finished off by adding loads of information about the game including the one-line sales pitch which is Fight for Freedom. I also added all
the famous people that are in the game onto the poster and I added some game reviews to show how good the game is and how good the
reviewers think it is.

I have finished my poster.

Robert Eastwood

I have now started making my game cover.

I have started by adding a template of the Xbox One cover making my game cover seem more real.

The next thing I did was get my character graphic and the same background from the poster graphic for making my front cover. I added
the name of the game, the one-line sales pitch, the Rockstar Games logo and the age rating.

I then made the spine of the cover all green and put my game name with the Another Danger font on it.

I then started working on the back of the cover and made the background grey and put Fight for Freedom in a big font as it doesnt stand
out enough on the front cover.

I then put all the famous actors and actresses that are in my game on the back and then put a bit of information about what my game is
about.
Robert Eastwood

I decided to add some lines to space out each part of the writing as it all seemed a bit stuffed together.

I then got a blade and put it upside down and made it look bloody and had blood dripping down through all the words and ending on the
Xbox One part of the back of the cover.

Learnt: I can make a game cover actually look like a game cover with help from a template.

I have finished my game cover and now finished all my graphics.

Evaluation
I have also done an evaluation in unit 78 which includes aesthetic qualities and
about what I used when making my graphics for my game.
Evaluation

Aesthetic Qualities

Composition

To create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Abstraction games can be
made using any platform with any pixel rate from 8 to 64. Abstraction games tend to use a lot of colour. Abstraction games dont tend to
have a plot or running storyline as the goal is to survive. An example of this is flappy bird where you have to just survive and there is no
story at all. Many video games aesthetics are made up of random shapes and colours such as Geometry Wars which focuses heavily on
geometric lines and colours to specify objects.

Colour Palette
Robert Eastwood

My colour palette during the work is mostly black or grey as it is a very dark and foggy game but there are other colours used such as
yellow, red, green and brown. I think if you use the right colour then it will make people more interested in the game. Whereas if I was
doing my type of game but with loads of bright colours it would be a completely different game. Below is a picture of my game cover
which is made for Xbox One which has loads of different colours on it but I have made most of the colours dark to suit the theme

Industry Practice

Compared to original intentions

I have finished all my product and most of my designs have stayed the same apart from the work I did on my poster as when drawing it; It
was just the main characters face but when doing my poster on Photoshop I decided it would look better if I made it show the characters
entire body. But every other graphic stayed the same as my original intentions apart from add some extra features as I didnt think about
adding a medal around the main characters neck until after I started creating the character when I realised my character looked a bit
boring so I needed to add some more colour to him without changing it too much and the medal and the sword in the background does
enough as well as the green eyes.

Fitness for Purpose

These graphics will be for the use of advertising. So they need to be the graphics which will be used in game. The client also asked for the
graphics to be created to a technical quality that reflects near professional standards following industry practice showing creativity and
flair working independently to professional expectations. When reviewing the graphics and I considered my intentions for the graphics in
first place I think that I have matched the requirements well. My ILP showed what I did every day in lessons. It is to advertise and it is also
to excite fans when showing character from the game as this will keep them excited for the game until it finally comes out.

Technical Qualities

With Photoshop and the vast amount of tools it holds completing the project to the deadline was no problem. This doesnt mean
everything went according to plan though. Technically all the tools on Photoshop worked how I planned them to, and I was happy with
the results Photoshop was giving me. I just wish I changed some things about the designs before going on to producing them.

Production Skills

For the poster, it was simple I had to make an A3 poster. In Photoshop there is already a dimension set for this. Designing the game was
made fun as I could relate to locations I was including in the game. Firstly, before doing any designing I needed to establish what platform I
was going to make my game on. From having an Xbox in the past this what I went with. The game covers for the new Xbox one are
different sizes to a normal DVD cover, in fact distinctively different.

Graphics Specification

For the poster I has to print it of as an A3 but I didnt do it right the first time but I changed it so it filled the entire A3 piece of paper the
second time. Most of my graphics were also using 300 resolution

Workflow and Time Management

My time management was good thanks to the ILP I knew when I had to do and how long I had for it. I also made a Timeline that shows
what I do on days just like the ILP. I didnt have any lesson off so I got all the time I was given. The ILP is something a use on a regular basis
as it allows me to see what I am doing every lesson and when things need to be completed by. There is also a section where you can add a
session review and this shows progress made and it allows me to keep track of where I am up too. Also if any changes are made to the
deadline or anything other I can change it easily on the ILP.

Legal and Ethical

Copyright Laws

The Copyright act was created in 1988. It was introduced for two reasons. One, making sure peoples hard work is rewarded and two, to
make sure that the creator never has their work stolen. Before 1988 people didnt have really anyway of protecting their work. This law
covers a lot of different types of multimedia. This applies on copying MP3, software, images, text, videos and songs. You are breaking the
copyright law if somebody creates something and you take what they created without their permission. The copyright law also forbids you
from giving a copy to a friend, making a copy then selling it, renting the software without the permission of the copyright holder and
Robert Eastwood

unless the licence allows it you cant use the software on a network.

You have to be careful how you represent and describe content and characters in your work because you dont want to offend and seem
bias and inaccurate. This applies to race, gender, sexuality, disability, regionalism, age, class and nationality.

It is essential that when I am designing planning my project that I take into consideration all of these things and ensure that all acts are
compiled with. To make sure I dont break any copyright laws I will gain permission for all the images I get of the internet. Online payment
is handled by PayPal secure payment facility. Payment can be made by any of the following methods: Visa, Master Card, Delta, Electron,
Maestro or PayPal balance (if you have an account set up).

Employability Skills

Maths

I had to use maths when making sure my canvas and image size on Photoshop were the right size. The game will be out in the world so
everything would need to be the right size and have the right dimensions. I also used maths for time management when making my
Timeline using the ILP. I also used a calendar for help on this.

English

I used English as I had to make sure all my grammar and spelling was right when doing my checklist and diary. If I left any spelling mistake
in, then it shows lack of effort and shows that I may have rushed it. I used the spell correction tool to make sure everything was right on
Word. I learned this skill last year from another assignment. I did this on each piece of work which involved writing to insure that it was all
correct.

ICT

ICT is important and I used it all the time during this assignment as almost everything is on the computer. Every assignment I learn new
skills and past assignments helped me with this one such as past things I had learned on Photoshop.

Communication

I talk to class mates to see what they are doing and to get feedback for my graphics and it helps me improve the graphics and helps with
time management also. Every day I contact the client to make sure I stay up to date and they are satisfied with the work I am producing.

Punctuality

One of the most important things when it comes to skills as if the punctuality is bad I could miss out on time that is needed to finish work
which could ruin my entire time management. A positive attitude in your work means that you look for the best qualities in those with
whom you work, that you take on challenges willingly, and that you find ways to accomplish even the most tedious tasks without
complaint.

Employer Skills
I have find this a document for employer skills in unit 32 and it shows how I
used certain skills.

Employability skills

Maths

We used the maths when doing are budget on excel. I also did maths when making my dope sheets by adding up the time for every
screen.

English

I proof read all my work and got peer reviews plus all my work on my diary and evaluation but checked for spelling.

ICT

I have used the software director to make my ident and I have a file on my computer with all of the downloaded music and video clips on.

Communication

I used communication when I did my podcast as I was talking about my TV ident and about what I had to do init. I also communicated with
other people when doing my questionnaire as people answered my questionnaire while I also helped them with theirs.

Punctuality

I had to meet deadlines and also make sure I did some client meetings as well as doing my ILP after every lesson.

Work Placement

This gives me experience after I finish college about work and what I will have to do. I have learnt to do more creative things on director
and all around and during work placement I have learnt to talk to new people which I couldnt do very well before.

Legal and Ethical

The Copyright act was created in 1988. It was introduced for two reasons. One, making sure peoples hard work is rewarded and two, to
make sure that the creator never has their work stolen. Before 1988 people didnt have really anyway of protecting their work. This law

cause even bigger problems. The internet is not somewhere you can escape these rules. It is hard to break the rules on the internet
because things can be tracked. The videos I used in the ident will hopefully be ok but if I didnt check to make sure that the music artists,
chat show hosts and people who make the shows are ok with it The Grid could be copyrighted and be sued for a lot of money.

Conclusion

This unit shows that I can come up with something creative and can use it in other units in the future and I can also use director well so I
can use it after college to make ident and videos for companies.
