DISTED College Profile

DISTED College is a private non-profit college located in Penang, Malaysia. The college
consists of 2 main campuses, the Yeap Chor Ee Heritage Campus at 340 Macalister Road, 10350
Georgetown Penang, and Wawasan City Campus located on China Street Ghaut within the
Georgetown UNESCO World Heritage Site.
DISTED College offers a wide range of Pre-University, Diploma and Degree
programmes across various field of study, such as Business & Accountancy, Computing &
Engineering, Hospitality, Language & Communication and Psychology. The college boasts the
pride of being the pioneer provider of Pre-University programmes in Nothern Peninsular
Malaysia since 1987, and remains the only college in North Malaysia that is fully endorsed by
Edexcel to exclusively offer business & Technology Education Council (BTEC,UK)
qualifications. The college offers two Pre-University programmes, namely Cambridge
International AS & A-Level and South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE
International)*, with both programmes being endorsed by the Malaysian Ministry of Education,
Malaysian Department of Higher Education and Malaysian Qualifications Agency(MQA).
Currently, DISTED College remains the sole distributor of SACE International programme in
North Malaysia and the only college in Malaysia which offers a 12-month duration Cambridge
A-Level Programme.
Academic Partners of DISTED College include Staffordshire University (United
Kingdom), HELP University (Malaysia), HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Science
(Helsinki, Finland) Cambridge International AS & A Level, SACE board of SA and Wawasan
Open University.
DISTED College has also received awards and accreditations from the Malaysian
Qualifications Agency, ISO Certified and BTEC, including 6 Star ratings for General
Programmes, Science, Mathematics and Computing by MyQuest 2014/15.
DISTED COLLEGE GCE A-LEVEL PROGRAMME
Programme Overview
The DISTED School of Pre-University Studies offers the choice of two globally recognised
programmes for students who have graduated with an SPM /O-Level / UEC or equivalent
qualification and are looking forward to advance their studies locally or abroad. The Cambridge
A-Level grant you access to many degree programmes in Malaysia and worldwide including
countries like Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, India, the United States, the European
Union and Canada.
DISTED has been successfully conducting the Cambridge A-Level programme since 1995. The
programme provides a solid grounding for tertiary studies in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry,
engineering, computer science, information technology, biotechnology, law, business,
psychology, mass communications and other related programmes. It is the gold standard of Pre-
University qualifications to higher education.

Malaysian students who intend to pursue degree studies entirely overseas after the A-Level
are required to complete the General Studies prescribed by the Malaysian Qualifications
Agency (MQA)
Assessment System
The A-Level examinations which are conducted by the University of Cambridge
International Examinations (CIE), comprise 2 parts (except for Further Mathematics):
The Advanced Subsidiary (AS) examination covering the first half of the programme.
The Advanced Level (A2) examination covering the second part of the programme.
Duration of Study
Intakes are available in January, March and June. Students can choose between the 12-
month or 18-month programme.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Science Stream
SPM: 5 credits with passes in relevant Science subjects, Bahasa Malaysia and English
IGCSE O-Level: 5 credits with passes (Grade E) in relevant Science subjects and English
UEC: 3 credits (Grade B) with passes in the relevant Science subjects and English
Arts Stream
SPM: 5 credits in any subjects with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English
IGCSE O-Level: 5 credits in any subjects with a pass (Grade E) in English
UEC: 3 credits (Grade B) with a pass in English
