Classroom Management Plan

Rules and Consequences

My classroom will have fair rules that students help me create. The rules will be
boldly displayed in writing and pictures. The following are examples of rules that I will
enforce and teach my students from day one. These are rules that I feel apply to both
school and life in general.
1. Respect your peers and the classroom materials. Treat others the way you wish
to be treated.
2. Be kind and be respectful. Hands a feet to yourself; respect everyones personal
space.
3. Remember to use your manners; please, thank you, and no thank you.
4. Use your words to solve a problem. Can you resolve the situation on your own
before asking an adult for help?
At a young age, there are plenty of learning moments, which includes receiving
consequences for poor choices. As I have experienced, using the name box is a
nondisruptive way to get a students attention. Their name in the box is a warning, a tally
next to their name is five minutes of free time taken away, and a second tally is a phone
call home. For children who have trouble adjusting and correcting themselves, Ive seen
moving them from the group to a separate area and giving the time to calm down is
effective. Once they have earned the right to join the group, they may. Students will not
be sent to the hall to sit by the door where they will be unsupervised.

Classroom Layout
1. Eliminate runways in the classroom, but adapt it to students who may have
physical needs.
2. The students desks will be arranged so that the students back are not to the
front of the classroom; either grouping students in fours or in a U-shape facing
the board.
3. Make toys and tools that are appropriate at reaching level for students.
4. Environmental print is important for young children. Boxes, materials, and
shelves will be labeled. A word wall will be on display in the classroom.
5. The room will have posters and students work on display. Posters may include a
daily schedule, calendar, hundreds chart, the alphabet, vocabulary words,
classroom rules, and learning targets.
6. A job chart will be on display for students. Jobs may include a teacher helper,
messenger, line leader, door holder, weather reporter, and trash collector.
