Brief:

For this Unit, which is going to be the biggest project we have done yet, we have to produce something
that we have done in the past for example we can make a music video, documentary, radio show, etc.

I have decided to do a Music video as I feel I worked best doing a music video and theres a storyline
that you can follow by doing a music video and a set amount of time it should be, so it makes it easier
for me to know what to do. The song I have decided to do a music video for is called basket case by
the greatly known band green day which is about people who find it difficult being themselves as
they are paranoid and skitzafrinic, which can be rudely put as a basket case, so in the video I am going
to have a band singing along to the song in a cage as thats what these people must feel like in the
head as well as having a narrative going on in the video, which will show day to day life of a basket
case. So the artist I could produce this work for will be the band Green day as its a music video for
the song they made.

The starting date of this Unit is the 4th of April 2017, and the date it has to be done by is the 9th of
June 2017.

What I will need to do before I start filming any of the music video is all the pre-production, which
consists of locations recess, storyboards, target audience, script, production plan, equipment and
props. I will find out the target audience for this song by asking around college and Henley town centre
what people would listen to this song. I will know what equipment and props ill need after planning
the music video.

Me being the only one in the team means that everything ids down to me and everything has to be
done by me. So I need to do all the pre-production plans by myself and then I will have other roles like
being the camera operator, the producer, the editor, the sound production and all the mise en scene,
props and make up. These are all the roles needed to make this video and I have to do it all to myself.

My ambitions for this production is to create a very interesting music video for the song basket case
by green day. I would like to do all the production work for it by myself, so I can see it as it all being
my own work. I will hope to think all will go well. For the music video itself I will want to show clips
not a band singing along with the song as well as having a narrative going through it so it shows a bit
of a story on being a basket case.

In an abandoned house with a fancy chair in the Patient 4201
middle and a young man in a suit sitting in it. Then
three patients walk out in front of him with doctors How have you been since our last session
then the smart man states How have you been since

Natural light from the sun as the woods is
outside so dont need any other lighting source

There will be sound from the habitat around

However you are using natural light so you
dont have control over it so you need to make
sure you film it all at the same time or it will get
darker

However, I am filming a music video so none of

used, so the natural sound is fine.

things on the floor in this abandoned house no one gets hurt.

Continuity Plan:

The contingency plan is a back-up plan for my music video if any of my other plans for the music video
failed. The location i am thinking of doing is going to be an abandoned building so weather doesn't
really matter as all of my scenes are going to be inside and not out, so nothing can go wrong with the
weather, however i am going to need permission to film in this location as even though the building is
abandoned, it is still owned by someone so i need to get permission by Email or Phone. However if i
don't get a reply to allow me to film in the abandoned building, i will film in there anyways as it is
abandoned so its not troubling anyone for using that building to film in. it is also not near any other
houses or roads so I don't think anyone would even see if we were in there or not so it should be fine.
But if we do get kicked off the building i have another location which wouldn't be my ideal place to
film for this music video but if we do get kicked off, it is my back up plan. The backup plan location is
a bomb shelter in the woods which is just ruins of an underground bunker which is in a massive public
woods, so I wouldn't need permission to go down there as it is in a public area.

Another problem i may face while filming the music video is if one of my actors drop out last minute
due to sickness or any other reasons, the way i will prevent this is; i will also tell other actors to be in
the music video but tell them on the day if Ill need them or not, so when it comes to the day Ill see
which one of the two is up for it, so Im more likely going to have the right amount of actors on the
days of filming.

I could also face a problem if i don't have some equipment or if it breaks on the day, so to prevent this
from happening i will hire the equipment from my college for the days i am filming and i will also bring
backups of what i have hired just in case the equipment breaks.

I could also face problems with the props as they might break or we might forget to bring them to
where we are filming so to prevent this from happening i will double check i have absolutely everything
to film before we go to the location which includes the equipment, props and everyone who is meant
to be getting filmed.

Legal and Ethical:

I may face issues to do with copyright while doing my music video as i am using a different bands song
and not my own song. As i am not using my own song and using Green Day's song instead they can

get me in trouble with Copyright as they haven't granted permission to let me use there song to do a
music video for. Copyright controls the way in which material may be used so me using there song can
lead me getting in trouble for using Green Days song instead of my own. However Green Day is a very
large and worldwide known band so i don't think they'll care that there song is being used to make a
music video which isn't up to scale with their music videos. I will also put in the 'bio' of the video when
i upload it to YouTube that the song is not my own and then i will caption 'Green Day - Basket Case' so
it shows Im not trying to use there song to claim it as my own. Another issue i may come across is the
age rating. i must make sure i say if it includes any sex scenes, bad language, despicable scenes and
drugs in the video. All of these decide what age rating the music video is going to be, so if it was to
include stuff like drugs and sex and bad language, the age rating would be for an 18 year old as kids
cant see them stuff.
