Go to Start button -> All programs -> ANSYS 14.5 -> Workbench 14.5 -> click on this
New Tab will open -> click on OK
Go to toolbox section -> Select Geometry with left key mouse button -> hold it and Drag it to red space -> Release the
left key mouse button
Now screen will be like this
Duble click on the ? Mark at the Geometry Tab -> New tab will prompt -> Selct the length Unit as meter > click on Ok
Click on the new sketch tab ->
Select the Sketching Tab just above the Details view->
At the workspace area, click the right mouse button -> Select Look At option
At the workspace area, click the right mouse button -> Select Look At option -> See the screen
Select the Rectangle option from Draw Tab -> Go to the origin -> Once the P appears -> Hold the left mouse
button -> Draw a rectangle as follow
Select the Rectangle option from Draw Tab -> Go to the origin -> Once the P appears -> Hold the left mouse
button -> Draw a rectangle as follow with a release of the left mouse button
Select the Dimension Tab -> then horizontal tab and general tab -> the select the bottom horizontal edge with left
mouse button -> drag it down -> F2 will appear -> Repeat the same for T1
Now assign the value 0.095 for H4 -> 1.5 for V2 -> As show in the Details view tab
Right click on the work space -> Select the look at Tab -> the screen will look like this
Go to Concept Tab -> Select the Surface from Sketches
Select the Sketche 1 from XY plane -> Sketch will turn white -> Click on the yellow area Not Selected
Select the Sketche 1 from XY plane -> Sketch will turn white ->Click on the yellow area Not Selected
-> select the Apply Tab ->
Select the Sketche 1 from XY plane -> Sketch will turn white ->Click on the yellow area Not Selected
-> select the Apply Tab -> 1 Sketch will display
Select the Sketche 1 from XY plane -> Sketch will turn white ->Click on the yellow area Not Selected
-> select the Apply Tab -> 1 Sketch will display -> Click on the Generate Tab
Select the Sketche 1 from XY plane -> Sketch will turn white ->Click on the yellow area Not Selected
-> select the Apply Tab -> 1 Sketch will display -> Click on the Generate Tab -> Screen will be like this
Go to File -> Save Project ->
Go to File -> Save Project -> Mesh 1 -> Click on SAVE button
Go to File -> Save Project -> Mesh 1 -> Click on SAVE button
Go to Workbench -> Select Mesh component -> Drag it to red space
Go to Workbench -> Select Mesh component -> Drag it to red space
Slect Geometry from A -> Hold left mouse button and drag into Mesh tab of B -> Release the button -> Now
meshing can be done
Double click on the Mesh Tab of B -> New diaglogue box will prompt ->
Now go to Mesh -> Insert -> Sizing ->
Now Select the Edge Tab near tools Tab ->
Select the two vertical Edges -> Select the yellow region -> Click on the Aplly button -> 2 Edges will be displayed
Select the Edge Setting -> Then Duplicate ->
Select the Edge Setting -> Then Duplicate ->
Select the Edge Sizing -> Select Type of No of Division -> No of division on Y axis Enter 150 (DY=10 mm) -> update
Select the Edge Sizing 2 -> Select Type As No of division -> No of division on X axis Enter 16 (DX=95/16=6 mm) ->
update
Select Mesh -> Insert -> Mapped face meshing ->
Select Mesh -> Insert -> Mapped face meshing -> Select Face -> Go to yellow space -> click on Apply ->
Select Mesh -> Insert -> Mapped face meshing -> Select Face -> Go to yellow space -> click on Apply -> Generate
Mesh
Select Pan -> Zoom in the Mesh
Select Edge tool -> Select bottom Edge -> Click on right mouse button -> select Create named selection >
Select Edge tool -> Select bottom Edge -> Click on right mouse button -> select Create named selection > Name As
Inlet -> Click on OK
Select Edge tool -> Select Top Edge -> Click on right mouse button -> select Create named selection > Name As
Outlet -> Click on OK
Select Edge tool -> Select Left and right edges -> Click on right mouse button -> select Create named selection > Name
As Wall -> Click on OK
Go to File -> Export -> Export the mesh in specified directory for furher use with *.msh extension such as
mesh2d.msh
Go to File -> Export -> Export the mesh in specified directory for furher use with *.msh extension such as
mesh2d.msh
Go to File -> Save Project
Open mesh2d.msh file in fluent solver
Go Start button -> All programs -> Ansys 14.5 -> Fluid Dynamics -> Fluent 14.5 -> Click on this Tab
Dimension -2D -> Option Double precision -> Processing serial -> display option- check all -> select the working
directory -> Click on OK
File -> Read -> Mesh ->
File -> Read -> Mesh -> Select the appropriate mesh file (mesh2d.msh in this case) -> OK
It shows some warning hence -> Go to cell zone condition -> change type solid to fluid -> Yes -> OK
You can check this warning-> Mesh -> Check ->
Go to the General Tab -> Do the following changes
Go to the Model Tab -> Do the following changes
Go to the Material Tab -> Create/Edit -> solid -> Enter density of solid as 2500 kg/m3 ->Change/Create -> overwrite ->
No
Go to the Material Tab -> Create/Edit ->select fluent database -> select water from database materials -> Copy -
>Close -> Close ->
Go to the Phase Tab -> Select Phase 1-> Edit -> Phase material as water -> rename it -> OK
Go to the Phase Tab -> Select Phase 2-> Edit -> Phase material as solids -> rename it -> OK
Go to the Phase Tab -> Select Phase 2-> Edit -> Phase material as solids -> rename it -> OK
Go to the Boundary condition -> Select Inlet -> Phase as water -> Edit -> Enter the inlet velocity as 0.45 m/s -> OK
Go to the Interaction -> Select gidaspow -> OK
Go to the Solution methods -> Do the following changes
Go to the Monitors -> Do the following changes
Go to the Solution initialization -> Compute from as inlet -> initialize ->
Go to the Adapt -> region ->
Go to the Calculation Activities ->OK
Go to the Run calculation -> time step=0.001 s -> no of time steps =100000 -> max/time step =100 -> calculate
