Caesar. Apparently some of his men had
started to believe that the Gauls were just
unbeatable-so they must be Gods! Caesar
had to convince his men that the Gauls
were just ordinary mortals. But how?
Julius Caesar remembered the story of
Hercules, a great hero who, given twelve
seemingly impossible tasks to perform,
completed them successfully and was
rewarded by being invited to live on Mount
Olympus, the home of the Gods. Caesar
decided to devise twelve equally difficult
tasks for the Gauls to perform-when they
failed (as he felt sure they would) it would
prove to his men that they were mortals,
not Gods. Here's what happened when
