- SCHOOL RULES & REGULATIONS

To maintain the discipline of our school as well as to provide a learning environment for our students, the
school has set up the following regulations for students and expects all students to follow. We hope that
parents can support our teachers in reaching our educational goals. The regulations are as follows:

1.

School hours are from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. (Cultural class from 12:00 noon to 12:30 pm) Students
must go to their own classroom immediately when the bell rings, and students can leave only after the
bell rings at 12:00 noon unless authorized.

2.
Students must follow teachers direction and classroom rules, they are not allowed to walk around or
disturb others while class is in session.

3.
The classrooms should be kept neat and clean. Do not touch or remove any of the classrooms
objects. At the end of the class, all furniture should be restored to its original arrangements.

4.
No eating or drinking inside the classrooms. Do not put any candy wrap or
perishable garbage in the classroom garbage cans. Eating and drinking inside the school is only
allowed in the cafeteria during recess.

5.
No running and chasing in the corridor. No fighting or any violent behavior is allowed - this is
considered a serious offense.

6.
Parents are responsible for all damages to the school properties or personal properties, whether
intentionally or accidentally caused by students

7.
If any student needs to leave early, an Early Departure Form must be
completed by parents at the school front desk and submitted to teacher before class. No students
may leave the school during the school hours unless prior permission.

When any of these rules is violated, at the first offense, the student will receive a verbal warning,
repeated violators will be sent to the Principal's Office and their parents will be notified. Students who
repeat serious violations are subject to expulsion. In such case, there will be no refunds of tuition.

GENERAL SCHOOL POLICIES


TIME SCHEDULE: The school year runs concurrently with the
South Brunswick School District School
Calendar. Language classes start at 9:30 am
and finish at noon every Saturday. Cultural
Classes will start immediately after the
language classes and last until 12:30 PM.
Please refer to the school calendar for
details.
S TUDENT DROP Students should arrive at school between
OFF / PICK UP 9:15 am and 9:30 AM. Parents should
TIME: accompany their young children to their
classroom. All children must be picked up
promptly at 12:30 PM (12:00 PM for
kindergarten). In case of an emergency,
please notify the School immediately to make
special arrangement for children pick up by
calling the school emergency contact phone.

ABSENCES: A written notice to the teacher from parents
must be provided for all absences or call the
school phone before 9:30 am on the day of
the absence. A child who misses more than
four consecutive classes without notification
to the school may be considered to have
voluntarily withdrawn from the School. The
class teacher must be notified in writing for
any extended absences.

TARDINESS: Students who are late for class miss valuable
instruction and they interrupt the class.
Students must obtain a tardy slip from the
front desk before entering the classroom.
Repeated tardiness may result in the
Principal requesting a conference with the
students parents to resolve the problem.

LEAVING EARLY: If students need to leave early, parent must


fill out the Early Departure form and give it
to the teacher before class starts. No
students may leave the school grounds
during the school hours without permission.
RULES: The following school rules and regulations
need to be observed at all times:

DISCIPLINARY The disciplinary action depends on the
PROCEDURES: seriousness of the behavior. Every attempt
will be made to solve problems. If satisfactory
citizenship continues to be lacking, students
may expect the following: Counseling by
teachers, principal or dean, loss of privileges,
or 'time out' in office. Parent will be notified
and a parent conference may be called if the
above actions fail to correct the problem.

VISITING Parents are welcome to observe classes at the


CLASSROOMS: School. However, they must check with the
classroom teacher before the visit.

CONFERENCES During the school hours, the teacher is not

consult with your child's teacher, please
make an appointment with her/him, either by
calling or sending a note. Teachers will
request conferences with the parents if they
need to review the children's progress or any
special problems. Please try every effort to
attend these meetings.
BACK TO Teachers will meet with parents in
SCHOOL DAY: classrooms to explain specific curriculum and
areas that require support. Parents raise
questions that are more general in nature
NOT a time for individual conferences.
Parents can arrange individual conferences
with the teacher.
PARENT The School is owned and operated by
SUPPORT: parents. All parents are required to provide
volunteer service to the School two to three
times during the school year. Please also
contact the PTA if you can help in any of the
other school functions.
EMERGENCIES The school will close due to inclement
SCHOOL weather or any emergencies. The teachers
CLOSING: and class-parents will use the phone chain to
notify all parents. A phone chain will be
established by each class parents. Please
make sure the school has all students up-to-
date information.

INJURIES AND The staff may inspect any minor injuries and
ILLNESS: keep student under observation in the office.
The parent will be notified and asked to come
for the child if:
1) any sign of illness, temperature, vomiting,
ear ache;
2) evidence of a communicable disease 1.
(including head lice) or rash;
3) child complaints of feeling ill or; 2.
4) Emergency help will obtained for any
severe accident, including a deep cut, 3.
tooth injury, possible fracture or 4.
dislocation, or any accident requiring
immediate medical attention or parent

involvement.

SPECIAL Crossroad Middle School hosts many Crossroads Middle School
OCCASIONS: activities on Saturdays for day school
students. There will be no school for some
days and homecoming events. Please refer
to the Calendar for details.
LOST AND A "Lost and Found" is located in the
FOUND: administration desk. The school is not
responsible for all personal belongings.

FIRE DRILL: The School will conduct fire drills during the
school year.

DROP OUT No refund after 3 weeks, full refund except
/REFUND: registration fee within 3 weeks. All school
materials must be returned upon withdrawal.
Any money due to the student will be
refunded after 30 days of such action. A
Tuition Refund Request Form must be

completed, signed by the parent and
submitted to the school before a student is
considered officially withdrawn. Students who

stop attending all of their classes but fail to
complete the withdrawal process are
considered as unofficially withdrawn.

CLASS The School reserves the right to cancel any
CANCELLATION: classes at any time (including cultural
classes). The school will refund all tuition
paid to the school.
CLASS For various reasons parents and/or students
TRANSFER: have made requests to transfer students from
one class to another. Please refer to the
Class Transfer Policy included in this
Handbook.
REGISTRATION: Registration for the new school year usually
starts in May of the previous school year.

IMPORTANT NO student may bring firearms, knives or
WARNING: other weapons, any form of explosives
or fireworks, cigarettes, alcoholic

beverages and illegal drugs to school.
Any such violation is an IMMEDIATE
CAUSE FOR EXPULSION from school
and may be turned over to the police.
