a. If an animal is an orangutan, then it eats both plants and animals. Reasoning: For this conclusion
I used the law of detachment, as omnivores eat both plants and animals (p->q), and orangutans
are omnivores (orangutans=p), therefore orangutans eat both plants and animals.
b. If an animal is a female mammal, then it can nurse its young. Reasoning: For this conclusion I
used the law of syllogism, as if a mammal is female, then it produces milk (p->q), and if an
animal produces milk, it can nurse its young (q->r), therefore, if an animal is a female mammal,
then it can nurse its young.
c. If a species is the giant panda bear, then it is likely to become extinct. Reasoning: For this
conclusion I used the law of detachment, as if a species is endangered, then it is likely to become
extinct (p->q), and giant panda bears are endangered (giant panda bears = p), therefore justifying
the conclusion that if a species is the giant panda bear, then it is likely to become extinct.

Reasoning:
For the first sequence, knowing that after 2 days the panda bear ate 34 pounds of biscuits and 37 pounds
of bamboo, I had decided that each day the panda would eat 17 pounds of biscuits and 18.5 pounds of
bamboo, accumulating to a total of 85 pounds of biscuits eaten by the end of the week and 92.5 pounds of
bamboo eaten. For the second sequence, I had decided that the panda ate the same amount of food as the
first sequence for the first two days, however it was only known that the panda bear ate the specified
amount of food after only two days, I had the panda bear only eat on the first two days, making the total
food eaten by the end of five days only 34 pounds of biscuits and 37 pounds of bamboo. The first
sequence is definitely more likely, as I doubt a panda could go eating twice a week without starving,
