METHOD STATEMENT Shrinkage Crack Repair on Concrete Slab

Purpose:-

It is to define the steps involved at shrinkage crack repair on concrete slab as per NCR # 84.

Scope of work:-

This Method Statement is applicable for repair works of shrinkage crack on concrete slab.

Labor & Plant:

Grinder - 1 nos.
Mason - 1 nos.
Helpers - 1 nos.

HSE
Prior to the commencement of work, all personnel involved in the work will be briefed about the
activity and the hazards involved. Precautionary measures will be taken as per attached Risk
Assessment and Safety procedures will be strictly followed.

Execution procedure of Shrinkage crack repair:

1) Identify and record the location of the shrinkage crack on concrete slab.

2) Remove all loose concrete by chipping or brushing.

3) V groove to be provided on the crack area by grinder and removed loose concrete. Always use
safety eye wear and nose mask for cleaning and using gloves for handling tools and equipment.

4) Cleaning by water or air compressor to remove concrete dust and fragments.

5) If the reinforcements are exposed, clean the reinforcements and apply suitable approved
materials for protection against corrosion.

6) Follow the preparations for the concrete repairs as per the materials technical data sheets.

7) Follow the direction and procedures and the preparation and application of the materials to be
used.

8) Apply the materials as per the materials manufacturer or supplier recommendation.

9) Cover with hessian cloth as necessary and sprayed with clean water as per the requirements in
the technical data sheets of the materials.
