PROJECT PROPOSAL

Guidance:
For your Project Proposal, you must provide an outline brief of your Final Major Project. Where the
brief is set by your tutor, or where you are working on a group brief (with other Learners), please
make sure that you cover how you will respond individually to the brief and/or your individual
responsibilities/ contribution to the work of the group.

Your Project Proposal must be produced as a focused outline brief (leave the sub headings in
place and put your content beneath):

Section 1:
i. Working Title or Theme of Final Major Project
ii. What you will work towards producing
(Guide:150 words)

Section 2:

i. Ideas and research sources (you must include a short list of research sources and
Bibliography texts). This list can be attached as an appendix.
(Guide: 100 words)

Section 3:
i. Media form and technologies

ii. Timescales (an action plan is essential)

Section 4:
i. Proposed method of evaluation (how you will review your FMP in critical and analytical ways
self and peer review, tutorials, etc)
ii. How the evidence produced relates to the assessment criteria

Your Project Proposal must be not less than 300 words and not more than 500 words.
Section 1:
i. Working Title or Theme of Final Major Project
ii. What you will work towards producing

The title for my final major project will be The Infection. I chose this name because it had some
horror type aspect to the name and fits in well with the story due to the infection within the game.
The Infectious was my second title I decided on and though it was better than my previous title,
which was, Infection. I chose The Infectious over Infection because I think thought that calling it
infection was too straightforward and wanted to keep the same theme for the title but I did not want
to change it too much. The theme of the game is going to be a horror so I will make the theme dark
and spooky. I will be using a colour palette, which features dark colours like, black, grey, dark red and
dark purple.
I will be working towards creating an environment using 3ds Max and Unreal Engine for the artist
pathway. I will be creating a house, which is in the middle of a forest. I will be modelling the exterior
and part of the interior. I will be taking this pathway because I feel that my modelling skills is my
strongest skill within the games industry.

For my ideas and research, I will be looking at lots of different games and films to get ideas of what
assets and sounds I can create to make my environment as good as possible. I will be looking at the
film, The Cabin in the Woods and the game, Resident Evil 7. I will be researching on these because
they feature houses that are in the middle of the woods and I think they will inspire me to create a
decent environment. I will also get some more ideas from different films and games to see what I am
able to create to give it a horror feel to the environment.

My game will be a PC exclusive game, which will be on the steam marketplace for 1.99.
The applications which will be used to create the level will be Photoshop, 3Ds Max and Unreal
Engine. I will use Photoshop to create the texture maps and for some concept art for the game level.
3Ds Max to create the assets, and Unreal Engine will be used to create the world and to put the
assets into the correct positions.
To start I will be creating an in-depth schedule and keep updating my blog to allow the reader to see
what I have done and when I completed it. I will create a pitch to tell others what my game will be
about and what style it will be. After I will be creating, some sketches so I am able to get an idea of
what my environment and assets will look like. Then I will create the assets and start putting the
environment together.

For the methods of evaluations, I will be doing an alpha and beta testing for other people within the
class so I can get their feedback on what needs to be improved and what is good about the game. I
will also be getting feedback from the pitch so I am able to change some parts before I start the
creating of the environment. Throughout the creating phase of the assignment, I will be able to go
back, reflect on what I have created, and see if there is anything that I can either improve, or change.
Throughout the pre-production and production phase of the assignment, I will keep referring back to
the assignment brief so I can keep on track and not do something that I am not supposed to do. I will
also refer back to my schedule so I can make sure that I am on time on the task I am supposed to be
doing.
