 About Formula SAE

Formula SAE® is a student design competition organized by Society of Automotive
Engineers (SAE) at seven venues around the world.

Ø
The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has
contracted a design team to develop a small Formula-style race car for the non-
professional weekend autocross racer.

Ø Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules
whose purpose is both to ensure onsite event operations and promote clever
problem solving
.
Ø Formula SAE promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all
aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing,
testing, developing, marketing, management and finances.

ØFormula SAE takes students out of the classroom and allows them to apply
textbook theories to real work experiences. No wonder then that Formula SAE is a
very popular event amongst mechanical and automotive engineers worldwide.

 About Team RGIT
We are a bunch of Mechanical Engineering Students out to build a Formula Race
Car for the International Formula SAE competitions, the Formula One for students
around the world.

But our passion is not for a race alone. It is fueled by our desire to learn and harness
race technology for an India that is growing in the international racing scenario.

Team RGIT has taken this engineering challenge with a winning spirit. We have
explored modern design techniques, used computer simulation and analysis and
tried out modern fabrication techniques so as to build a car fast enough to overtake
every other on the track.

On the larger scenario, our efforts will ensure that soon, every weekend racer in
India will be able to own an autocross race car, complete with the latest technology,
at affordable cost. The result will also show in everyday passenger cars, which will
perform far more efficiently than present day cars by implementing advanced race
technology.

So come and join us in this grand initiative, as we unleash our energy to take on the
world!
