Dear United Nations Representative,

How are you? Im a student from Hong Kong, Victoria Shanghai Academy, and in our classes we

have been studying the Syrian War. Weve noticed that the situation is really serious, had many

casualties and affected the life of millions. According to the local newspaper al jazeera, around

400,000 were killed in the past five years, two years ago the number was 250,000, a lot less.

According to BBC, around 8.4 million children were affected. I am writing in hopes that you can

provide more humanitarian aid to the citizens of Syria, particularly the children, and provide them

basic necessities such as steady supply of food and safe shelter.

Since 2011, 1 in 10 Syrians have been killed/wounded, and 470,000 deaths has been caused by the

conflict, either directly or indirectly. Just in 2015, 21,179 have been killed, over half of those civilians.

11 million have fled their home to other countries since the war started in 2011. Families are

struggling to survive inside Syria. We should be giving the civilians help and the aid that they need.

They didnt want to participate in the war, they didnt do anything that caused the war. They are

innocent, and they deserve to live their lives, not under the shadow that this could be their last day

alive. Syria is a battlefield now, civilians do not belong there. We need to help them flee, or provide

them safe shelters. Whether you support the Russian and President Assad, or you agree with US,

Turkey, Saudi Arabia and many other places decision to remove Assad with force, you are fighting

against the troops, not the civilians.

The children are also in desperate need of help and humanitarian aid. 2 million children in Syria dont

have access to the humanitarian aid that they need. Children are lacking education, food, water,

protection, hygiene and many other basic necessities. This can causes death and many diseases. To

help the situation, UN can help provide more basic health services, improve accessibility to those

centers, and creating projects to help prevent spreading of diseases. This can also be done by

directing funding towards food security, healthy, wash and education, which according the United

Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, has barely met half of its needed funding.

The money can be obtained by appealing for support from those all around the world.

The Syrian War has continued for a long time now, and sad to say it doesnt show any signs of

ending in the near future. However, we can still minimize the impacts of war on the citizens of Syria.

Please help provide more support and humanitarian aid to the civilians and children of Syria.

Thank You.
