Colored Celery Sticks Description: Here is the time for each child to be -Liquid water able to make their own colorful celery stick. Each coloring (RR1) teacher will have 5 cups of water and 5 sticks of -celery sticks for celery. The child can pick the food coloring that they each child (kitchen) would like. Have the child put in the food coloring -one cup of water with help from a teacher. Have them mix it with a per child (kitchen) spoon. Hand each child a celery stick and have -Tape for names them place it in the water. Talk about why the celery (RR1 orange 10) stick is not changing colors right away. Also, discuss -Droppers (RR1 the different colors each student made. Ask orange 11) questions such as: -does anyone know why their celery stick is not changing colors? -Why? -ask the students if they remember the parts of a plant and help them label them and point to each part together as a group. Have the child write their name on a piece of tape to label their celery stick.
