Author Guidelines

These guidelines are in accordance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to
Biomedical Journals, published by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors
at http://www.icmje.org.

Types of Articles
JDCR welcomes following types of articles:
Case reports (typically 1500-1800 words plus 2-4 figures/tables). Case reports describe clinical case
histories of interest. JDCR will consider for publication case reports of extraordinary significance with
discussion and case of very rare skin diseases with review of contemporary literature for educational
purpouses.
Original clinical observations (typically 1800-2500 words plus 4-6 figures/tables). These are reports of
clinical observations in a number of patients, which enable statistical analysis. Results should be
accompanied by analysis and detailed discussion in the context of current literature. Prospective
clinical trials will generally not be considered for publication.
Review articles (typically 2500-4000 words plus 4-6 figures/tables). A review is a well referenced,
sharply focused, critical assessment of literature provided by experts in the subject matter covered by
this review. Authors may and should express their individual opinion about a topic of controversy or
suggest new approaches for future research. It is required that these opinions are expressed in a
manner which makes them clearly identifiable and distinguishable from literature data.
Original research articles (typically 1500-3000 words plus 4 figures/tables). Reports of new and
original work with significance for clinical dermatology will be considered for publication.
Photoetters to the editor (typically 500-600 words plus 1-2 high quality figures and up to 5
references). This section provides a possibility for publishing exceptional photographs of skin lesions
with a short discussion of the presented case. Short reports of cutting edge pilot research or
observations ilustrated by high quality photographs also will be considered for publication in this
section.
