Commitment to Students and Student Learning developing as expected

I feel I am committed to making sure students have all the tools they need to succeed and I try to get
students involved by asking guiding questions throughout my lessons and planning group work activities. I
feel like I am also very excited about teaching and sharing my knowledge with the students. I need to keep
trying to learn names to build a strong connection with my students.

Knowledge developing as expected

I try to be as knowledgeable as I can be by researching subject matter I am unfamiliar with, referring to

curriculum and ministry documents, and expanding on prior knowledge to provide the best lessons for my
students. I need to keep pushing myself to ask questions and think of good questions to ask my AT to further
my learning. This can include writing down questions I have as I think of them to make sure I am getting the
most out of my practicum experience.

Teaching Practice developing as expected

I need to continue to work on not getting caught up in getting everything right during instruction and make
sure Im making the lesson enjoyable for the students. I will continue to differentiate my teaching styles
and strategies to keep students engaged. I am going to continue to try to see what works best for me to plan
long term units and instruction so students are getting a variety of instructional methods throughout the unit.
Using a day planner and creating schedules are working best so far.

Professionalism developing as expected

I always arrive early to the school to make sure I am prepared for the day and can speak with my associate
teacher before classes begin. I make sure I immerse myself within the school community always speaking

with students and other staff members when possible and appropriate.

Leadership and Community developing as expected

I have attended meetings with my associate teacher, such as health and safety SITE committee meeting,
department meeting with Guidance (which Dana is a part of). I am also volunteering as a coach for the junior
girls volleyball team. I am always willing to help with events and give my opinions on matters within the
school when appropriate. I need to continue to engage with people within the school community as much as
possible. I feel I am building a strong presence and am starting to have a voice within the school and
community.

Ongoing Professional Learning developing as expected

I am always open to hearing constructive feedback and use it to further develop strong teaching practices. I
have taken advantage of learning opportunities keeping open contact with Ms. Harder and attending
meetings with other TCs and the VP, Mr. Michael Phillips.

COMMENTS
Teacher Candidate's Growth Plan

I need to remember to ask questions that provide more higher order thinking skills. I will continue to use and
experiment with various teachings strategies and approaches to engage my students within the classroom.

By submitting this self-assessment form, I agree that I have consulted with my associate teacher
