GENERAL
The PRM advanced diagnostic function is an optional feature of the Plant Resource Management (PRM) package.
This function acquires parameter information from devices connected to a eldbus to provide a diagnosis execution
environment. By executing diagnosis applications for eld devices, you can carry out proactive, predictive and pre-
ventive maintenance for those devices. Moreover, loop, unit and process diagnoses due to simplied multiple pieces
of information data can also be attained using device parameter and process data.
Diagnostic applications can be easily created by using the PRM Advanced Diagnostic Application Software Develop-
ment Kit (PAA development kit NTPS220-S1, an optional package).

CONFIGURATION FOR PRM ADVANCED DIAGNOSIS

The PRM advanced diagnostic function comprises data acquisition services, the eDIAG DB diagnostic database, and
a diagnostic server (diagnostic algorithm execution environment), as well as an acquisition navigator, a diagnostic
navigator and a diagnostic tool, which are advanced diagnosis clients.

Advanced Diagnostic Function

The use of a vender- or third-party-supplied PRM advanced application that is registered in the PRM advanced diag-
nostic server allows devices, process interfaces, etc. to be diagnosed. In addition, the PAA development kit allows us-
ers to develop their own diagnosis algorithm (PRM Advanced Diagnostic Application: PAA). A created PRM Advanced
Diagnostic Application can be executed by registering it in a PRM Advanced Diagnostic Server as for a supplied PAA.
The PAA development kit includes multiple samples that allow users to easily create application software, such as:
Sample diagnosis 1 (upper and lower limit check)
Sample diagnosis 2 (area monitoring)
Sample diagnosis 3 (monitoring differences between multiple devices)
Sample diagnosis 4 (monitoring failures of reciprocating compressor)

PRM advanced diagnosis client functions are incorporated in a PRM client function. The PRM Client allows the moni-
toring of the PAA start, stop and execution statuses.

Data Acquisition Function (acquisition service)

Data acquisition services are provided to acquire dened and registered data-acquisition parameters from devices and
then store them in the diagnostic database, eDIAG DB. When PAA is started, parameters for the corresponding PAA
are automatically acquired. In addition, if arbitrary parameters need to be monitored as a step prior to the installation
of an advanced diagnostic application, a data acquisition table in the PRM acquisition navigator allows you to register
manually. It is possible to select a data acquisition period that is on a minute, hourly, or daily basis.

PRM Advanced Diagnosis Server Specications
The PRM Advanced Diagnosis Server provides diagnostic functions to execute diagnoses and data acquisition func-
tions to collect diagnostic data, as listed in the table below.

Maximum
Function Item Description
Specication
Maximum simultaneously executable number is
Diagnostic applications that can be executed
10 (*1) restricted by optional package specications.
simultaneously
Can be simultaneously executed on up to 5 PCs.
Maximum number of diagnostic modules that can
Diagnostic be executed simultaneously for each diagnostic
function Total diagnostic functions that can be executed function is 1000.
10000 (*1,*2)
simultaneously So, total diagnosis numbers that can be executed
simultaneously on one PC is 10000 (1000 x 10). If
more than 10000 is required, use multiple PC.
Memory capacity for each diagnostic function 120 MB
Data acquisition period (minimum) 5 sec
Total number of data items dened as diagnos-
Data 10000 items Total data items acquired for device diagnosis
tic data
acquisition
function Total data items acquired for other than device
Used-dened total data items 1000 items diagnosis
Data acquired are user-denable.

*1: Up to 10 diagnostic applications can be simultaneously executed on one PC.

Therefore, when you specify /N5000 as the option code of PRM Advanced Diagnostic Server, it is necessary to prepare
other PCs to install the diagnostic server according to the number of diagnostic applications.
The database for diagnosis is required for one PC only, so you do not have to install Oracle newly.
*2: This specication is applied to R2.06 or later. For the revisions before R2.06, the maximum specication is 1000
(10 diagnostic functions X 100 diagnostic applications).

Notication of Detected Errors to Users

Notication of detected errors to users varies depending on the individual diagnosis PAA (algorithm). The following are
provided as notication methods:
HIS Operation Guide Messages
Notication by E-mail
PRM Client Historical Messages
PRM Client Status Display

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
Refer to the separate GS 33Y05Q10-31E SSS7700, SSS7710, and SSS7720 Plant Resource Manager (PRM) for the
operating requirement of the PRM server, PRM client, and eld communication server as components of the PRM.

Hardware Requirements for Advanced Diagnostic Function

Below is a description on the difference of the operating requirement of the PRM server when the Advanced Diagnos-
tic function is used and when the standard PRM function is used.
PC (IBM PC/AT-compatible): Pentium IV 2.8 GHz or higher, Xeon Dual 2.8 GHz or higher recommended.
Main memory
The main memory capacity needed for a PRM server when an advanced diagnostic function is used depends on the
number of diagnostic applications. Refer to the table below for the memory capacity when using the advanced diag-
nostic function. This memory capacity is added to the environment where the PRM standard package is operated.

Number of diagnostic applications Main memory capacity

1 A minimum of 256 MB
Up to 5 A minimum of 512 MB
Up to 10 A minimum of 1 GB
