In all parts of this assignment you will be required to refer to the scenario provided. In order to be
successful it is important that you read the scenario and the grading tips before you attend to
complete these tasks.

Scenario
Your college student Union is planning to organise many events in the future to raise funds for the
unions activities.
You have been invited by the executive committee of the college Student Union to advise them on
Managing Business Events and training their event organisers. Initially, they want you to prepare a
report on following topics.

Task 1.1 (Assessment Criteria: P1)


Describes the skills required of an even organiser.
Grading tip: When you are preparing the report, tthink back about a business event that you have
attended or one that you have learnt about in this Unit.You must demonstrate that you have sound
understanding of the role of a business event organiser. Remember to include all the different skills
that are needed for event organisation, including time management, problem solving and
evaluating.

Task 1.2 (Assessment Criteria: P2)


Explain the role of the event organiser.
Grading tip: When you are explaining the role of the event organiser you need to include as many
different examples as possible drawn from a specific event or bring in other examples of events that
you have been to yourself.

Task 1.3 (Assessment Criteria: M1)


Using the event chosen for P1 and P2,
Assess the importance of meeting organisational and legal requirements when planning a
business event.
Grading tip: You will need to show that you understand the organisational and legal procedures for
planning the event, including procedures for organising supplies and the importance of supplier
contracts and arrangements.

Task 1.4 (Assessment Criteria: M2)

Analyse the arrangements made by an event organiser to plan a business event.

Grading tip: You should build on your answer to P2, and explain the key planning activities needed
to be done for the event.

Scenario
The Executive committee of the student union was impressed with your report and they want you to
take the initiative to plan a business event for the student union. They asked you to coordinate with
the event organisers of the union for this event. You are free to decide a suitable business event for
the union.
Task 1.5 (Assessment Criteria: P3)

Prepare a business plan for this business event


Grading tip: You must produce a written plan for the event that includes type of event,
arrangements, resources and scheduling. Use graphs and charts to help illustrate your points and
do not forget to reference any ideas that you find in books or on the internet to avoid plagiarism

Task 1.6 (Assessment Criteria: P4)


Arrange and organise a venue for a business event, ensuring all health and safety
requirements are met

Grading tip: Make sure keep an accurate record of the activities you carried out to organise the
event and venue; you should include a risk assessment to help you.

Scenario
Choose a business event for the student union which you can provide a support. Provide support
during the running of the event and produce a written report of what you did.

Task 1.7 (Assessment Criteria: P5)


Provide support for the running of an event.

Grading tip: You will need to show how you provided support at the event. You tutor may assess
you on the running of the actual event and may provide observation statements, or you will be
asked to give a written account of what happened.

Task 1.8 (Assessment Criteria: P6)

Produce guidelines for dealing with problems.

Grading tip: You should also describe in a written report the problems that you could have as well
as those that you actually had at the event you supported and how they should be dealt with.

Task 1.9 (Assessment Criteria: P7)

Carry out follow-up activities after a business event

Grading tip: You will need to describe the processes that you followed at the end of the event
including the circulation of any materials and the reconciliation of the budget.

You have just run a business event. Now produce a written report to provide a detailed review by
covering the following criteria.
Task 1.10 (Assessment Criteria: P8)

Review the success of the business event.

Grading tip: You should look at how successful the event was in terms of meeting its objectives,
how well it was organised and how any issues were solved to keep the activity running smoothly.

Task 1.11 (Assessment Criteria: M3)


Evaluate how a business event can inform future planning.
Grading tip: You should identify different methods of evaluation, such as delegate questionnaire or
a debrief form. You should explain how these methods contribute to identifying problems and
providing solutions for future events.

Grading tip: You will need to consider feedback from delegates participating in the event. Build on
