Reflection

My pathway projects (units 4, 5 and 6) have enabled me to prepare myself for the Final Major
Project. Unit 4 allowed me to understand the importance of research (social, cultural) and how this
feeds into my projects. Research from a variety of sources such as online articles, journals, books
allowed me to gain opinion and understanding in further depth which pushed my project even
further. I will do a large amount of research in my Final Major Project to ensure I am knowledgeable
and understanding of my subject matter and artists that I choose to include and am inspired by. I will
make sure I take research from various sources, pushing myself to even contact designers/artists
themselves to inform my work even more. Within units 5 and 6 I was able to explore a variety of
techniques such as screen printing, Photoshop, screen drawing, embroidery, weaving and many
more. Practising these processes allowed me to become confident within my technique and
approach, therefore benefitting me in the Final Major Project and giving me the opportunity to
create professional outcomes to a high standard. I will continue my exploration of fabric and printing
within my Final Major Project and use the skills I have taken from the previous pathway projects. In
my Final Major Project, I will also do more primary photo shoots as I feel like I was lacking in these
within unit 5 and 6, I will ensure I have plenty of material to work from and be inspired by. Due to
time constraints, I feel as though my final outcome for unit 6 was not finished to a professional
standard such as the finishing of the seams. Because I have more time for the Final Major Project, I
will ensure I have a high quality final outcome for the exhibition as well as a professional sketchbook
with plenty of refinement and planning leading up to the finish.
