Have you ever give informed consent to anyone for

example when you sign up for something like social media
and when you going down at the bottom and Check
Yes? You are giving informed consent to that social
media. But in the book The Immortal life of Henrietta
Lacks its a different story. In the book doctors dont ask
patient to do experiments on them or to ask if they can get
some of their cells. It was a big problem back in those time
for the black community. An important central idea that
arose in HL is informed consent. This is important
because, in my writing I will be talking about informed
consent and why is it Important and did Henrietta give
informed consent to the doctors that was helping her.
On page(134) in Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks it
states that every human being has an inalienable right to
determine what shall be done with his own body this is a
piece of informed consent because this text shows that
everyone has the right to determine what they have to sign
up for or do they what want to be done with his/hers body.
And on page(167) it's states that look for a genetic
predisposition to criminal behavior the researcher didnt
get consent. this is part of informed consent because it
says that the researcher didnt get consent for what they
was doing. In book Mrs.Lacks was going hospital
because her was stomach hurting more. And when she
went into surgery the doctors took part of her tissue but
she didnt know that part of her tissue was taken away
from her. She didnt not give consent to this.
An other part of informed consent is when someone
ask Hsu something about consent it's say that no we
never give consent form because you just go to draw
blood this shows that doctors at the time didn't even give
out form about consent. And when Hsu when to take blood
from the Lacks family she didnt tell them why she was
taking their blood and she dont give form to the family. A
other part is when doctors was work on a man and the
man circled no and the doctors call him and say that he
circled yes to the form and when he didnt circled yes and
he went back home and his mailbox has a sticker on it that
say i do on it but he didn't agree to that form and then he
got a letter from the doctors telling him to stop being a
pain and sign the the form I find this on page(200) it states
that Moore circled do not just in case .. A few weeks
later he got a letter fro golde telling him to stop being a
pain and sign the form.
