No Matter What You Say, Our Clover of Wish Is Our Masterpiece

St. Patrick, the Saint from Ireland, was born in Scotland in 387. At the age of sixteen, he
was captured by the Irish who launched their raid. He was taken to Ireland as a slave and had to
work as a shepherd. He learnt the Irish language. At that time, Christianity was not familiar in
Irish.
During his solitude, he turned to God. He prayed so often. As his faith grew stronger, he
heard an enlightening voice which told him to leave Irish. That voice is believed to have come
from God. He run away and finally escaped from his alienation after some sailors had helped
him sail to Britain. In Britain, once again, enlightening voice came to his head ordering him to
get back to Ireland and introduce Christianity among the Irish, who mostly were Pagans.
He studied to become a priest. After some years, he finally became a bishop and was sent
to spread Christian gospel in Ireland. Since then, he introduced Christianity, baptized people, and
preached the gospel across Ireland. At first he was hated by the King of Ireland, eventually, the
King and entire kingdom turned to be Christians because of him. He also built churches and used
native belief of Irish to celebrate Easter in order to let Irish accept God. After his efforts for 40
years, he defeated the domination of Paganism and made Christianity have important role in
Ireland. He died on March 17, 461.

After four days of hard work, this hand-made clover plant was completely finished by us,
all students of IC A year 2012. This clover of wish project was made in order to honor St.
Patricks Day, which is also the theme of WCC this year.
Some iconic symbols which are identical with St. Patricks Day; like green color, gold
coins, and clover leaves are used to complete this handicraft. Green as the majority color sprayed
to the twisted wires as the branches. We create twelve branches that represent the total number of
IC A students of year 2012. Gold coins, which are made from cartons, are filled in the pot
symbolizes wealth that every human wants to have as well as every member of us does. The pot
is covered with brown-painted papers, so it looks like soil. Four-leaf clovers made by paper are
chosen because it is believed to be a symbol of good luck and protection.
There are twelve leaves which are the most special ones because on those twelve leaves,
written the wishes of twelve of us. There are many wishes that we have. Some hope to be able to
pass Structure Two, some hope to graduate as fast as possible, some hope to stop their bad
habits, some hope to change themselves to be better people, and some simply hope to always be
happy. They are written on the four-leaf clovers, so all of us hope that we will always have good
luck and protection during our processes to reach our goals according to those wishes.
Those wishes, which are now being hung on this handicraft, are now also hoped not to be
just pieces of writing, but triggers to burn our spirit on. Let this handicraft become a proof and a
symbol which shows that we, IC A students of year 2012, can do something extraordinarily in
both team working and individual working because we are sure that every single one of us has
something special on ourselves which had been given as gifts from above.
In the next semester, there might never be an event that requires IC A students of year
2012 to gather and work again as a team. Because of that, this handicraft might also be our last
piece of work as a group. However, even though this will be the last, on this handicraft, lies the
spirit of our togetherness. We have done even every little thing we could to complete this project.
No matter what people say or judge, this handicraft is our MASTERPIECE.

And He watched over me before I knew Him and before I learned sense or even distinguished between
good and evil. St. Patrick -
