Mate Relationships in the Assembly
Environment
In the Assembly Environment we build relationships with
parts and their geometry. The first relationship that we will
be building is a called a Mate Relationship.
Below are two cubes. When you create a Mate
Relationship you bring the two red faces of the cubes
together.
Planar Align Relationships in the
Assembly Environment
The next type of relationship that we are going to
create is called Planar Align. This is where we bring
the two red faces to touch a virtual plane. It would be
similar to putting the red faces of the cubes onto a
glass window.
Step 6 Creating the Front Wing
Skills
1. Creating a Part in Place.
2. Use the Inter-Part Copy Tool.
3. Use the Include Sketch Tool.
4. Use the Hole Tool

Step 7 Assembling the Power Plant.
Skills
1. Create Axial Align and Tangent Relationships.
2. Create a floating Planar Align Relationship.
3. Create relationships with Subassemblies.
4. Create a Gear Relationship.
5. Use Drag Component to create physical motion and
detect collisions.
6. Use the Steering Wheel to move a part.

Axial Align Relationships in the
Assembly Environment
Axial Align brings the Axis of the cylinder
shapes together as shown below.
Tangent Relationships in the Assembly
Environment
The Tangent Relationship brings a cylinder or
circle geometry into contact with a flat surface
or straight line as shown below.
Floating Planar Align Relationships in
the Assembly Environment
When using Planar Align and setting the
offset to float, it allows us to have two face,
facing the same direction but not on the same
plane. As shown below.
Step 8 Simulation of Gears
Skills
1. Creating a Motor.
2. Use Simulate Motor.
