Course Description: Winter 2015 (Lecture 3)

PREREQUISITES:
CHEM 20A, MATH 31A with acceptable grades

REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING POLICIES: % of course grade


Written homework problems (due Wed at noon) 15%
You must show your work and use appropriate significant figures and units. Start
the homework sets early. Attempt each problem on your own, get an answer, and
get together in groups to discuss. Alternatively, use the solutions guide for help.
OWL simulations and homework problems 15%
Midterm exam Wed. Feb. 11 12pm - 1pm (Location TBA) 25%
Final exam Tues. Mar. 17 3pm - 6pm (Location TBA) 45%
GENERAL PROCEDURES:
Written homework sets and OWL sets are due before/at the start of class; late
submissions of written HW (more than 5 minutes after class starts) will be penalized
30% until HW solutions are posted (and will be worthless after solutions are posted).
Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.
Makeup exams will not be given. If you have a religious issue with any exam
date, it is your responsibility to let me know during the first week of class. If I am
forced to give a make-up exam because of university procedures, regardless of the
reason, I will give an oral exam in my office, and the grade will be assigned based on
your ability to verbally explain the concepts and calculate answers on the board.
The final exam must be taken at the scheduled time and place to pass the course.
