Leadership Inventory Reflection

1. About my leadership strengths
2. About my leadership skills needed improvement
3. About my preferred style of leadership
4. About a summary of me (learned, goals, style)

My leadership strengths

I think the leadership strengths I show are high levels of consideration for others, my strong
motivation tactics, and my love for organization and responsibility. Firstly, I am known as a mom
by all my friends through different school and extracurricular activities. I am always willing to
lend a hand, provide advice or a compliment to anyone. Secondly, I am a super positively
motivated to do all my work because I only get involved in things I want to participate in. I love
encouraging people to get involved in new and different activities. Finally, I am best suited to lead
a group to success. I love having things like projects and reports organized to the highest
degree so they look professional. This organization shows I care which improves personal
responsibility. To conclude, I care a lot about others, I am highly and positively motivated, and I
show responsibility by being organized.

Leadership skills that needed improvement

Through the survey I discovered I am more task orientated than I originally thought. I am always
known as a person that puts people first so it was odd to see through most surveys my main
focus was always the task. As well, I am always working on my communication and
collaboration skills in and out of school as they are a challenge for me. I plan to be more focused
on specifics when working on communication skills like, positive reinforcements, fair
evaluations, and being open to new and different ideas from others. To conclude, I plan to
improve my leadership skills by becoming less task-orientated and working on better
communication within groups.

Explain my own style of leadership

If I had to pick a style that was most like me I would say Servant Leadership with a mix of
autocratic elements. I am always looking to help out people in a positive way. Looking for ways
to get involved in different groups to learn more about people. Wanting others to feel like they are
apart of something. Encouraging other to express themselves and listen and be aware of what
others have to say. As well I enjoy being in control of groups. I believe that people can
accomplish anything if they actually try. I normally have very low tolerances for people with
laissez-faire attitudes on everything. Other than just some projects where laissez-faire works. I
understand how important it is for people to feel like they are apart of a team. As this was
something I strived to feel for so long. On the other hand in groups that have low motivation or
little time to complete something. I am normally first to step up to get the group on a path.
Wanting these people to be successful and happy are my number one priorities. This is why I
think I am a mix of servant and autocratic leadership styles.

Summary of me as a leader

To summarize, being able to identify the type of leadership style has helped me
understand who I am. On a level, I understand where some of my leadership strengths come
from because they are a part of the autocratic and servant leadership styles. Also understanding
and discovering my area of leadership that need improvement. I have been able to set
achievable goals. For example, giving more positive reinforcement in groups, giving fair
evaluations on others ideas and/or thoughts. Finally, being open and trusting of new or different
ideas. As well a plan to work on becoming more people first is also a big goal for me. As people
come before all tasks. To conclude, identifying my strengths helped me understand my
leadership style which helped me understand where improvements and goals could be made to
help me become a better leader.
