-Historical globalization: A period that is often identified as beginning in

1492, when christopher columbus made his first voyage to the caribbean,
and ending after WW2, when the united states and the soviet union
emerged as superpowers.

-Trade has made a dramatic contribution to Globalization

-Media convergence and social media platforms opened the entire world to
Globalization through the use of ads

-Globalization is good for some and bad for others as shown in the banana
wars. Where big transnational corporations made millions and the actual
banana farmers made little to nothing.

-Culture has also had impacts on globalization as shown with european


-Homogenization: The process of making things uniform or similar (applies

with residential schools)

-Assimilation: the process of becoming similar to something (applies with

FNMI residential schools and converting Homosexuals)

-Propaganda: Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature,

used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view

-What we teach future generations impacts us when we grow older and

impacts the inclusivity, safety, and environmental impact of future societies
-False media can cause major misunderstanding and belief in false
information causing miseducation of society; as seen with donald trump
and many political media sources such as bartbrite and alex jones show.

- Imperialism: a policy of extending a countrys power and influence through

diplomacy or military force (WW2 with hitler and the jews and fight over
africa including war between darfur)

-Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a countrys trade

and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the

-Industrial revolution: happened twice; First time with Johannes gutenberg

when he invented the printing press allowing books to be made at rapid
pace and making them available for much of the eastern counties,
advancing mankind's knowledge ; Secondly after World War 2 when great

-Eurocentrism: is a political term coined in the 1980s, referring to the

notion of European exceptionalism, a worldview centered on Western
civilization, as it had developed during the height of the European colonial
empires since the early modern period.

-Residential schools: were government-sponsored religious schools

established to assimilate Indigenous children into Euro-Canadian culture.
Although the first residential facilities were established in New France, the
term usually refers to the custodial schools established after 1880.

-Indian act: was first passed in 1876 as a consolidation of various laws

concerning indigenous peoples enacted by the separate colonies of British
North America prior to Canadian Confederation,
-Multiculturalism: the presence of, or support for the presence of, several
distinct cultural or ethnic groups within a society.

-Outsourcing: obtain (goods or a service) from an outside or foreign

supplier, especially in place of an internal source.

-Often times when war or terrorist attacks occur nations tend to get racist
and start becoming discriminative.

-How are generation deals with climate change will affect not only our
future but future generations. Things like carbon tax and the paris
agreement are good example of progressive steps forward on this matter.
