Labors Energy Policies Threatening Monash Sporting Clubs: Peulich

State Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region Inga Peulich believes that community based sporting
clubs throughout the City of Monash are facing serious financial difficulties because of Labors excessive
increases in energy prices.

Reckless targets driven by ideology and politics are driving up energy prices and threatening the viability of
local sporting clubs, Ms Peulich said.

Swimming pools and major sporting complexes in Monash, many run by council, are being significantly and
adversely affected by excessive energy price hikes.

Soaring gas and electricity prices are forcing local tennis, soccer and football clubs to abandon evening training
sessions, swimming pools to drop water temperatures, and clubs to increase entry fees and membership costs,
Ms Peulich said.

Currently over 3.25 million Victorians play sport or are engaged in active recreation including 580,000
volunteers, 100 Sporting Associations and 16,000 clubs.

With no regulatory control, energy prices are in an upward spiral, and the Andrews Labor Government
continues to put its head in the sand, Ms Peulich said.

Labor MP for Clarinda Hong Lim and Oakleigh MP Steve Dimopolous have supported the closing of power
generation facilities like Hazelwood and their reckless decisions are now eroding the financial viability of our
local sporting clubs.

"Unfortunately we now need adequate and ongoing budget provisions for local sporting clubs to cope
with Labors excessive increases in energy prices, Ms Peulich said.

"Daniel Andrews ideological power policies are threatening reliable, affordable and secure energy supplies
leaving Monash sporting clubs stranded in an energy crisis.
