DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL
So far this year we have 55% of our parishes receiving
rebates totaling over $660,000 for their efforts in sup-
porting the Diocesan Annual Appeal. Once again,
Holy Family Parish joined this group, having made
our goal for the 7th year running. Thank you for your
generosity making this years Diocesan Annual Ap-
peal a success. More than the money collected; it is
the countless number of lives that we are impacting
for the better here in our own diocese and around the
world that is beyond measure and the real fruits of
the Appeal. If you would still like to make a donation
for this years Annual Appeal, there is still time. How-
ever, the Office for Stewardship and Development
must receive the gift by June 30, 2017, to be included
this years annual appeal. An easy way to do this is on-

Calling all Servers:
SERVER BASEBALL APPRECIATION TRIP
The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a
bus trip into Milwaukee to see the Brewers take on
the St Louis Cardinals on August 3rd. Parents of
servers, please sign up soon. Children in 4th grade
need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Sign-up sheets are available at the parish office or
on our webpage (www.prairiecatholic.org) The cost
is only $15.00 for servers. Adult tickets are now
available as room allows for $30.00. Price includes
bus, game ticket, tail-gate lunch and paper bag
dinner on the ride home. Register soon by calling
the rectory.

Q. Is there a proper way to genuflect? Right knee, left

A. Here is a reply from Father Francis Hoffman, J.C.D.:
Ordinarily, we should genuflect in the presence of the sacred
with our right knee; the faithful can do a double genuflection
(both knees) in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament
exposed in the monstrance, or in the presence of a first-class
relic of the Holy Cross.
Q. How long to wait to eat before/after Communion?
A. Since Christianitys earliest days, pious practices and
Church legislation have dealt with the timing of eating or
drinking before or after receiving holy Communion. Current
Church law requires a one-hour fast before receiving holy
Communion, as canon 909 states. And although there is no
requirement of refraining from food after reception of the
sacrament, there are a variety of longstanding, pious practices
that aim at reverence for the real presence of Christ in
the holy Eucharist such as waiting until the Eucharist has
natural dissolved (about 15 minutes) or consuming a glass of
water to flush ones system.
