GENERAL
If this parameter is active, in the beam lists available in the inventory, the system will display the priority
column. In the creation and/or modification of inventory beams windows, it will be possible to set the
priority of each beam.
24
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
The nesting algorithm will take into account the priority for the selection of beams. The zero value
indicates the maximum priority and the higher the values are, the lower priority is. When remnants are
generated, these will take the priority of the original beam.
25
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
The angle by default is 180. By clicking on the arrow, the system will
display a drop-down list where the user will be able to select the
required rotation angle.
The available options are:
Round tube: 180, 90, 45, 30, 10, 5, 1, -1, -5, -10, -30, -45, -90
Common cut instruction between both parts is combined with the instructions of the islands obtained
during the nesting, getting a unique instruction of parts separation. This instruction always starts in one
of the islands and includes the lead-in defined in the part, if there is one.
26
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
Whenever a new part is introduced in the nesting, the system detects that it is possible to create an
island by rotating the first part as illustrated below:
27
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
In order to define the saw thickness value, it is necessary to indicate it in the advanced settings window
of the saw data, in the machine configuration section:
If there is a line in this table that corresponds to the material and format type to be cut, the saw
thickness defined in this line will be used as compensation. In another case, the default compensation
value will be used instead.

Now the system asks the user whether there is a saw advanced setting and searches in the saw data
table the feed to be applied. The feed can be indicated in the following three ways:
In order to indicate the method that will be used to calculate times, there is a window, which allows
accessing to the advanced settings of the saw data table:
29
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
Criteria: This section allows defining which parameters must be taken into account in order to
assign saw data to a specific sawing. Either it can be by material to be cut, format type to be
cut, cutting width to be done or the combination of several attributes.
If the user selects Type as criteria, it would be necessary to assign a type for every profile format in the
system so it is easier to identify it. It is possible to manage up to 20 types. The user can access to the
profile types management using the Type button in the Saw data definition window in the machine
configuration section.
Saw data: Several data can be indicated here: ID, Saw material, Thickness, Diameter (circular
mills), Number of teeth, Speed, Rotation feed (circular mills).
Head feed: Here the user can specify the method in which the advanced speed will be
measured. As stated previously, it can be through a unique value, several values based on the
quality and the cutting area or on the number of teeth per inch.

35
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
For instance, by indicating a maximum change of 10, the system will generate 10 intermediate vectors
for the machining of the corner of a square tube. However, with a maximum value of 2, the system will
generate 45 intermediate vectors.
36
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
This distance will be used during the automatic machining in order to relocate the lead-ins/lead-outs of
the part ends, avoiding that some of the parts that have been cut might be caught between the clamps
whenever the cut of extremes is finished.
For instance, in the part of the following image, the lead-in is out of the valid zone. Therefore, whenever
the contour machining is finished, the chuck would catch the material.
37
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
The automatic machining will relocate the lead-in as shown in the following image:
The system will divide into two the extremes of two consecutive parts and will alternate them avoiding
that, during the cut of the second part, the extreme already cut gets into the clamp zone.
In the example displayed in the image below, if during the machining of part 2, part 1 has not been
evacuated, it could be caught in the clamp zone:
38
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
In order to avoid this situation, during the automatic machining, the contours of the extremes of both
parts are broken into pieces and reordered as shown below:
FILE / MACHINES / CONFIGURE MACHINES / CONFIGURE / HEAD MANAGEMENT / X-AXIS MOVEMENTS / FIXED
DISTANCE BETWEEN CLAMP AND HEAD
39
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
Whenever this parameter is enabled, the system will check whether the chuck passes over any of the
cutting contours of the part and will try to order the cutting process in order to prevent the chuck from
holding cavities without part.
If the system does not find a proper order, it will then look for those contours that the chuck passes
over, break them and finally reorder the last cut of such contour so that the cutting order is safe for the
chuck.

In nesting machining, the first of the extreme cuts will be shortened up to the thickness. Cuts will be
ordered as follows:
If one of the cuts is not straight, the first extreme cut will be the straight cut.
If both cuts are straight, it will depend on the previous cut to avoid rotations on the beam.
If it is the first cut of the beam, the system will start from the shortest side of the L.

New Features
Minimum length of each motion: If between two positions to beLantek Expertthe linear
simulated,
displacement is bigger than this length, the system will create intermediate simulation positions.
Maximum length of each motion: If between two positions to be simulated, the linear
displacement is smaller than this length, the system will skip the simulation of the second
position.
Minimum angle of each motion: If between two positions to be simulated, the rotation of any
of the machine axes is bigger than this angle, the system will create intermediate simulation
positions.
Maximum angle of each motion: If between two positions to be simulated, the rotation of any
of the machine axes is smaller than this angle, the system will skip the simulation of the second
position.
If a value of 0.0 is set for any of these parameters, such parameter will not be considered in the
calculation of simulation positions.
For example, by indicating a maximum angle change of 10 the system will generate 10 intermediate
vectors for the machining of an extreme of a square tube, whereas a maximum value of 2 would
generate 45 intermediate vectors.

Rotate Parts
During the import of 3D geometry files, it is possible to rotate parts in order to change their orientation.
According to the part format, parts can be rotated in different ways:
53
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
Shaped can be rotated on X 180. With this type of formats, the system tries to look for the
optimum rotation on X, however, it is not always the one desired by the user. In these cases, the
user can leave the part with the rotation provided in the original file.
54
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
Use filename as reference: If the file contains more than one file, the system will use the name
of the file plus a different index per each part to import.
Default formats to import: In this section, the user can set the formats required import by
default. It will be possible to modify this list in each importer execution, but the formats here
selected will always be displayed selected.
IFC Importer
There is a new IFC format importer. This importer has been especially intended for data exchange with
structural design software such as Tekla Structures.

Excel Importer
New Features Lantek Expert
A new importer of parts defined in an Excel file has been included. The user will be now able to indicate
the definition data of the parts to import as well as their operations.
Operations for tube parts: The operations that can be defined are the ones of Hole type.
Operations for beam parts: The user may define round drills and nibbling operations:
Both parts and operations can be defined in the same Excel sheet. If the part contains an operation,
these data should be defined in the same row as the part. If it contains more operations, these should
be described in consecutive rows, leaving the part definition parameters empty. Find below an example:
The table shown in the previous example defines 3 parts, the first one has no operations, the second
one has two round hole operations and the third one contains a rectangular hole. The file to be
imported must be closed at the time of the import process. On the contrary, the system will display the
following warning message:

MACHINING
TUBES
New Machining Mode for Holes in Round Tubes with 5-Axis Machines
When it comes to generating the machining of a round tube with 5-Axis machines, the tube rotation
and head position are calculated on the basis of the following principles:
If the height difference (h) of the contour is lower than Z, the tube rotation and cutting head
position will be calculated by leaving the vectors parallel to Z.
In the case of being higher, the tube will be rotated until the hole center is located in the tube
center (Y=0). If in this position, the height difference (h) of the contour is lower than the value
indicated in Z, the system will keep this tube rotation and calculate the cutting head position
per each vector.
62
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
If the height difference is still higher, the system will calculate the tube rotation and the cutting
head position in such a way that each cutting position is located in the middle of the tube (Y=0).
63
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3
If the parameter is enabled, whenever the system detects collisions between the cutting head and the
tube, the system will try to correct those vectors that collide by executing an interpolation starting
from positions without collision.
64
New Features Lantek Flex3d 2016 SP3

During the import process of 3D geometry files (SAT, STEP, IGES, etc.), the system will automatically
recognize the format of each part to be imported and will try to assign a compatible one from the
Database. It may be the case that the dimensions of the part format do not coincide exactly with the
format existing in the database, but that the difference is not substantial. For these cases, an option to
increase the tolerances for the format assignment has been included, so that the user can select
between those formats equivalent with the indicated tolerance.
In order to apply these tolerances there is a new command in base profile and format selection
windows. Whenever one or several tolerances are applied, the list of base profiles or formats will be
reloaded with those compatible based on these tolerances.
The user can indicate different tolerances based on the type of format. In all instances, it will be
possible to indicate a tolerance for the main dimensions (width, height) and the thickness. If the format
has a rounding radius, there will be a tolerance for this radius. The linear tolerance used to compare
geometries can be modified in shape formats.
