Running head: JOB OUTSOURCING 1

Everything in the modern public education system in America is broken. As it is shown in the
Chicago tribune, as well as in the short film entitled Waiting for Superman the sad fact is that the
education policies, the stakeholders; and the entire public education system has almost collapsed thus
throwing millions of American into the shades of growing confusion that the education system has
continued to create into their lives (Guggenheim, 2010). The sad truth is that the American public
education system is almost in a point whereby, almost everything has stopped working. It has become
aged, declined as well as broken down to the level that it is no longer shaping the millions of American
children to a manner that is suitable to help them realize their life goals. The nation, including children
and parents have been let down by so many stakeholders in the education system, including the
teachers, the teachers unions, the government; along with the politicians to the extent that there is no
more room to drown (Guggenheim, 2010). However, as this essay paper holds on, there is always hope,
and as the short film entitled Waiting for Superman suggest there is a need for a superman. And in
this instance, a superman in the public education system should not be a ones man effort, but a
collaborative efforts by all stakeholders to ensure that the public education system is adequately
redeemed, reformed, and shaped in a manner that is suitable for giving the American students the
educational value that they all aspire to get, as they tirelessly continue to religiously attend to their
classes and lectures (Edmondson, 2006).

For a country of a high magnitude such as the United States, public education system should be
highly streamlined to the extent of making it the best education system in the world. Being the leading
nation, and the most powerful nation, America ought to have in place best measures to ensure its public
education system is robust, suitable, and also comprehensive in terms of syllabus coverage, and content
delivery. However, the unfortunate truth is that this is not exactly the case in the contemporary America
right now. Public education system has continued to lack value, and wither in terms of impacting
knowledge to students across board, and nothing seems to be changing. For a long time, as stated by
Guggenheim, (2010), in the movie; waiting for superman, there have been many promises by key
stakeholders including the politicians. Much of these promises, have led to increased funding of the
countrys public education system, so as to ensure that all the countrys children are incorporated into
the system, and are adequately assisted to acquire basic education. However, regardless of these efforts,
not much that has been achieved as long as children education welfare in the country is concerned
(Guggenheim, 2010). Literature indicates that America still continues to leave millions of children,
behind as long as education is concerned. It has reached a point that all stakeholders need to
acknowledge the fact that the current education system is largely inefficient in ensuring that the
American children get quality education. In fact, the disintegration in the public education system has
seen a handful of the promising American kids getting inhibited instead of encouraged achieve the basic
academic growth, which they are all entitled to across the country.

Different parties have aired different voices concerning the decline of the public education in the
country. However, as Sowell, (1992), acknowledges, different factors have caused the current
disintegration of the public education system in the country. If at all the current decline has to be
averted, all these factors need to be looked into, comprehensively, and conclusively. As Guggenheim,
(2010), states, different policies, organizations and stakeholders have all contributed to the decline in

the countrys education system. For instance, as argued by Thompson, (2015), one of the main reasons
as to why the public education system is on a rapid decline in the country is due to the unpopular
teachers policy. It has been stated that in the modern public education system, the public teachers are
getting the employment tenures in a very easy manner; thus making it extremely difficult to even
terminate the employment of a teacher who terribly performing in terms of delivering content to the
students (Thompson, 2015). The education system has in all aspects failed, and any attempt by the
stakeholders reprimand the poorly performing teachers, has all but gone ahead to negatively affect the
education environment.

Secondly, the deviation experienced in the public education system at school, state and federal
level has also created what has emerged as a conflicting bureaucracy in regard to teaching prospects
(Thompson, 2015). This in a huge way has created more confusion in the entire education system, thus
causing a massive decline in the overall education standards and value.

Additionally, as argued in the Chicago Tribune, the public education curriculum has also to get
reformed if at all the value of the public education system is to be reformed. The current syllabus, as
found out in the Chicago Tribune is another cause of the education decline in the public education sector
(Thompson, 2015). Going by the unique example given by the Tribune, the current public education
system in the country tries to teach a child on what makes great teachers; instead of having a chance to
practically getting a chance to be assisted to become the great teachers the syllabus talks about
(Paradiso, 1991). This shows the extent to which the modern public education system has created a huge
gap, between the education, and the real world that student ends up into after completing their
education. Such gaps have made it extremely difficult to see any significant value that a child has tried
too much to acquire throughout their entire school life.

As stated earlier, though this is the real situation, lots of things can be one; and as Guggenheim,
(2010), talks of a superman, there is need for all stakeholders to join effort to become a one unified
superman to change the declining education standards. the teacher unions, the teachers, the
government, and the educational experts, all need to come up and join hands together to tackle the
distinguished key issues challenging the viability of the modern public education in the country.
Teacher, on their part need to honestly and diligently do their best in helping the American children to
grow academically (Edmondson, 2006). Regardless of their tenures, which safeguard their jobs, they
need to get out of their comfort zones, and do their part as teachers. Teachers unions on their part need
to be responsive enough to support the recommendation that ensures that teachers are more obliged to
honor their performance contract across the country (Sowell, 1992). This way, the public education
sector will stand a better chance to be revived and redeemed value wise; and help the American kids to
realize their career dreams.

Conclusion

From the analysis above, it is evident that the current public education system in America has
failed. Each and every stakeholder is unwilling to play their part, ranging from teachers hiding under their
tenures, to the curriculum developer coming up with syllabuses that does not help in developing

students holistically, but partially. However, there is always a hope in everything as long as there is will-
power and willingness to embrace change by parties. What the modern public education in America
need is a superman; a superman that is not an individual, or an individual departments, but a wide-
ranging unification of all key stakeholders for a common purpose. The purpose to redeem the value and
worth of the countrys education. This way, America public education will be restored to the earlier
leading position in terms of worth across the world.
