AP Calculus AB Independent Summer Assignment 2017

Dear Student

Our summer assignments are designed to maintain your mathematical skills and to ascertain your
mastery of topics that we believe are a prerequisite to the course that you are entering. While we
encourage collaboration during take-home assignments, it is important that you understand that
these assignments are evaluating your individual abilities, skills and foundational knowledge. If
you are finding that you are having difficulty with your assignment, it is your responsibility to
seek help. However, individuals outside your peer group (such as a tutor) should not be
consulted when you are working on your assignment. In addition, you have the entire summer to
complete your assignment please do not wait until the last possible moment! Finally, if you are
finding that your assignment is very difficult and that you are struggling with many of the ideas
and concepts, talk to your teacher as soon as the school year begins. The summer assignment is
a good barometer of the expectation and difficulty level of the course that you are entering.

Please read and follow the directions for your summer assignment carefully. This assignment
consist of 8 sections of different topics, each worth 100 points (equivalent to one test grade) and
is the first opportunity that you have to demonstrate your work ethic to your instructor. In order
to access your assignment, create an account on www.deltamath.com . To create your
student account use teacher code 981097 . All work for this assignment must be done online,
but if necessary you may complete problems on a separate sheet of scrap paper. Enter your final
answer in the space provided online. If you need help, follow the worked out sample problems
for each skill. The due date is September 6th at 8pm. No late assignments will be accepted. The
scores for the assignments will be incorporated into your Marking Period 1 grade.

This letter must be signed by both you and your guardian to acknowledge that you understand
our expectations of you. It is due on the first day of school. Should you have any questions
