Pro Life or Pro Choice?

Should women kill their babies? Women that are faced with an unwanted pregnancy are

faced with a hard decision as well. The question is rather to keep the baby or not. There are

different reasons why some women might get into these complicated situations in their life. It

does not matter what caused that to happen, what matters is to be able to solve it before is too

late. Even though the fetus might become a living human, the mother has the right to choose

whether she wants to carry the baby throughout the pregnancy or not. It is the mothers decision

to choose if she wants her baby or not because a baby would change all her plans and maybe all

her dreams as well. An unwanted child would make a womans life harder in the psychological,

emotional way and financial way. A mother has the right to make her own decision about the

life of her fetus because she is the one whose life will change by the arrival of a baby.

A child can affect psychologically and emotionally the life of a woman. Many women go

through an unwanted pregnancy at an age that they do not really know much about. According to

Monohan, an unplanned pregnancy has risks and potential complications. Even though the rates

of teen pregnancy dropped, Monohan goes on saying that 22 of 1000 high school girls get

pregnant every year. It is legal in New York City to have sex at the age of 16. These kids at this

age, because the hormones develop so fast, find themselves having sex without being aware of

the future circumstances. Teenage girls that are going to be future moms, go through an

emotional and psychological trauma (Monohan.) Nowadays people are seeing kids having kids.

If these girls would not go through an abortion, they would force themselves become grown up

women. These teens want to grow up faster and try everything; however, they are not mentally,

emotionally or physically ready to confront life at that age. Teens should be allowed to be teens

and not be hit by this kind of problems at a very young age. I dont want people to judge me

(Banfield.) Many teens think on going through abortion because they are scared of what people

are going to say about them. People fear judgment every day that is not only about teens. The

best way to allow teens to be what they are meant to in that age is by is by giving them the right

of choice. Little girls that get pregnant at a young age must have the right to stop an unwanted

pregnancy. This world needs more educated girls and boys and future parents that will teach

their future babies right , and to not let them deal with some of those bad consequences .

Women who get pregnant because of a rape, are faced with an unwanted pregnancy and

psychological harm as well. In the case of rape or incest, forcing a woman made pregnant by this

violent act would cause further psychological harm to the victim (Lowen). Women that go

through rape or sexual abuse, get very hurt emotionally. Many girls around the world cannot

handle the trauma of a rape, what leads to stress, depression and sometimes to committing

suicide. Women that experience this are not as strong as the used to be before the forcing act.

Keeping a baby, who would always remind the mother of the trauma that someone caused her,

would be a forever-lasting pain. People always try different ways and methods to remove a bad

experience on their life. The mother would always have the baby as a sign or testimony of what

happened to her and that would be very hard to forget. Sometimes there are moments and events

that you cannot just bring back. People cannot change what happened in the past, but they can

definitely change or choose how their life is going to be in the future. Women do not have to

carry a baby if they are still on trauma. Women should have the right to choose between stopping

what is going to change their life or not. Women should have the right to choose rather they want

to carry a baby that was product of an unwanted sexual act or not. It is the womens decision.

She is the one who is going to carry the baby. She has the right for her voice to be heard.

Bringing a child into world might cause the mother many financial problems. Women

should have the right to go through an abortion, if they know that they cannot financially support

and raise a child right. The future mother would have it very hard to maintain a stable life if the

significant other would not support them. Many single mothers out there struggle with their kids

every day. According to Dawn, one in four children under the age of 18-a total of about 17,2

million- are being raised without a father. Dawn goes on saying that single mothers compare to

married mothers earn less income, what makes it harder for them to raise the children. Most of

women have to stay home when they give birth to the baby, whereas single moms cannot do that.

Lack of time for the baby means lack of attention too. Mothers have to go to work in order for

them to raise the kids, however the kids need the mom to be by their side always for emotionally

reasons and safety reasons too. Single mothers do not give as a safe life to the child, as couples.

Being a single mother, means that the baby is going to live with one parent rather than two

parents; what means that the baby would have two times less things offering him for life. Most of

the women that decide to carry the baby and decide to be single mothers break down though out

the road at some point. If a mother is not going to give a decent life to the child, she had better

not even given birth to that poor baby.

Many women around the world go through sexual abuse every day. Statistics show that

there are 321,500 victims of rape and sexual assault every year. Statistics also have shown that,

the number of children conceived from rape each year in the US range from 7,750-12,500

(Cantor.) Even though the number of women who suffer sexual abuse is going down, compare to

older times, women still face rape and incest every day, goes on Cantor. After this brutal and

undesired sexual act, many women confront an undesired pregnancy as well. Different men, that

usually are part of the violated womans family, think that they have any kind of right over the

girls. In the moment of the act, the abused women did not have a chance to make a decision.

Whereas after the act, women do have the right to make a decision about their life. These abused

women around the world not all the time can choose their short time destiny, but of course that

they can choose their long term destiny.

Is it worth it to even carry a baby and give birth, if they do not take care of the born

child? Every kid should be welcomed into this world and be loved. Women that get pregnant

through sexual abuse might not show any type of life against the kid. Part of the category, where

mothers do not show love against the baby, would also be single parenting, teenage mothers and

many others categories. Kyriacou states that one in five mothers cannot connect to their children,

leading to feelings of shame. There are many women around the country and world, which do

not show any kind of affection or love towards the baby. Mothers might give birth and then give

the baby to adaption, and never hear out from them. Women should not go through that. Women

should have the right to take certain decision that affects their life. It would be a great choice for

themselves and for the kids too. Rather than making the baby suffer and have a very tough life,

mothers should make a decision earlier in the life in favor of their kids and themselves. It is

always easier to prevent something than cure it. Before it gets too late, the women should prevent

a major future difficulty for them and a major hard time for the child.

Expecting a baby when desired and planned is a beautiful thing. Planning a family is

definitely a better thing. When people think of abortion, it blows their minds. People relate

abortion to murdering. Abortion is not considered crime, because the fetus is still not a living

human until it gets out of the womb. Women around the world must have the right to go through

an abortion if they feel that, that would change their life negatively. A unplanned child is going

to affects the parents life in so many negative ways. All people have rights and obligations.

Abortion should always be a womans right. All women should decide whether to say yes to an

upcoming baby or not. It is better to not give birth to a child that a mother does not love, than

raise them on coldness and lack of love. This world needs babies, love, support, affection against

each other, but does not need violence, abuse and coldness. Why should mothers be forced to

bring babies into life if they do not bring the good things with them as well? This world does not

need extra babies. This world needs girls and women who are strong enough to stand for them

and for their decisions and make their voice count. Women have their own life into their hands

by making decisions every day. Choosing to carry a baby nine months and give birth to that baby

is their decision, so are the after decisions. The future mother should choose if she is ready to

take a big important step in her life. That is privately and uniquely her decision and nobody

elses. She is the mother to be and she has the right to everything about her unborn child.
