Fixing permissions on the Spectrasonics folder inside of ProgramData is necessary to restore functionality of Omnisphere 2,

Trilian and Stylus RMX.

I. SPECTRASONICS FOLDER

1. Go to Windows Explorer: (Windows Key-E)

2. Select "View" menu at top of Explorer window, and check the "Hidden Items" box so that Explorer will display hidden files
and folders

Here's how to display hidden files and folders.


1 Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and
then clicking Folder Options.
2 Click the View tab.
3 Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then click OK.

3. In Explorer: Navigate to C:\ProgramData folder and find the "Spectrasonics" folder

II. TAKE OWNERSHIP

1. Right-click on C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics folder and select Properties:

2. Select the Security tab, then press the Advanced button under Permissions:
3. Select your current user login under "Change Owner to:" and make sure that Replace Owner on Subcontainers and
objects" is checked.
4. Press the OK button. You'll see a confirmation message that you have taken ownership of this folder:

III. REPAIR PERMISSIONS

1. Right-click on C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics folder and select Properties


2. In the Properties Window: select the "Security" tab.

NOTE: The Security window may display a message "No permissions ... Warning: this is a potential security risk ..." You can
ignore that message!

3. Click "Edit.." button: this will popup the "Permissions for ..." window

4. For each Group or User name (in upper part of Permissions window) repeat the following actions:

a. Select the Group or User name in the upper region

b. In lower part of window: check the "Allow" check box for "Full Control"

c. Click "OK"
5. If there are no groups or users listed in the upper part of the Security window, do this the follow

a. Click the "Add..." button

b. Enter your user name

c. Click OK to add your name and return to the Security window.

NOTE: If your user name does not appear in the "Select Users or Groups" window, Click "Advanced..." button; then on
the next Window click the "Find Now" button; then select your user account; then click OK button twice to return to the
"Permissions for Spectrasonics" Window.

6. In the Security Window click "Allow" box for "Full Control" then "OK"
7. Click "Apply" then "OK"

8. In the Properties window click "OK"


8. Download and install Omnisphere v2.0.0f (or later) update and run it (do not attempt to run the v2.0.0e updaters again!!).
