Art Appreciation and Aesthetics

I. Course Number: HUMANITIES 1 Credit: 3 units

II. Course Title: Art Appreciation and Aesthetics Pre-Requisite:

III. Course Description:

The yearning for beauty and the pursuit are inherent in every man, but these yearnings can
be sharpened with a course in art appreciation. Humanities therefore, are designed to help
students develop an insight into the technique of the artists and guide them to have the proper
awareness and appreciation for the various arts. A course in Humanities will lead the students to
realize that they are already an aesthetician.

IV. Course Objectives:

At end of the course, the student should be able to:

Cognitive (Knowledge):1. To acquaint the students theoretically to the visual, auditory, and
performing arts, (traditional & contemporary through the study of
the types, mediums, basic elements and principles of organization
of each form);
2. To provide the students with a general overview of the humanities
making them see their own world from many vintage points.
3. Help them grow up to become better human beings.

Affective (Attitude): 1. Stimulate philosophical thinking about the creative-perceiving


process as reflected in art objects.
2. Express human rights concept through their work of art especially
in visual arts, performing (music, drama, dance, and theater).

Psychomotor (Skills): 1. Encourage the students to perform well and to use the
corresponding sensitive faculties that are endowed with to promote
arts.
