Lamentamos tener que informarte de que, por cambios en la legislacin
espaola, Google Noticias ha cerrado en Espaa y las publicaciones de los
editores espaoles ya no aparecen en este servicio. Comprendemos que
usuarios como t podis estar descontentos con esta situacin y por ello
queremos explicarte las razones por las cuales hemos tomado esta decisin.

Google Noticias es un servicio gratuito, que utilizan y aprecian millones de

usuarios de todo el mundo y que en la actualidad se encuentra disponible en
ms de 70 ediciones internacionales y en 35 idiomas. Este servicio incluye
desde los peridicos nacionales, hasta las pequeas publicaciones locales,
medios especializados y blogs. Los editores pueden elegir si quieren que sus
artculos aparezcan en Google Noticias o no y, por razones de peso, la inmensa
mayora opta por su inclusin. Google Noticias crea un verdadero valor para
estas publicaciones al dirigir trfico de usuarios a sus sitios web, lo que a su
vez les ayuda a generar ingresos publicitarios.

Tras la aprobacin de la reforma de la Ley de Propiedad Intelectual hemos

tenido que cerrar el servicio de Google Noticias en Espaa. Esta nueva
legislacin obliga a cualquier publicacin espaola a cobrar, quiera o no, a
servicios como Google Noticias por mostrar el ms mnimo fragmento de sus
publicaciones. Dado que Google Noticias es un servicio que no genera ingresos
(no mostramos publicidad en el sitio web), este nuevo enfoque resulta
sencillamente insostenible.

Desde Google vamos a seguir manteniendo nuestro compromiso de ayudar y

trabajar con el sector de la informacin, al igual que con nuestros miles de
socios en todo el mundo, incluidos los de Espaa, para ayudarles a incrementar
sus lectores e ingresos en Internet.

Google News in Spain

Were incredibly sad to announce that, due to recent changes in Spanish law, we
have removed Spanish publishers from Google News and closed Google News in
Spain. We understand that readers like you may be disappointed, too, and we
want to share the reasons behind this decision.

Google News is a free service, loved and trusted by hundreds of millions of

users around the world and available in more than 70 international editions,
covering 35 languages. It includes everything from the worlds biggest
newspapers to small, local publications and bloggers. Publishers can choose
whether or not they want their articles to appear in Google News -- and the vast
majority choose to be included for very good reason. Google News creates real
value for these publications by driving people to their websites, which in turn
helps generate advertising revenues.

But sadly, as a result of a new Spanish law, we had to close Google News in
Spain. This legislation requires every Spanish publication to charge services like
Google News for showing even the smallest snippet from their publications,
whether they want to or not. As Google News itself makes no money (we do not
show any advertising on the site) this new approach was not sustainable.

We remain committed to helping the news industry meet challenges and look
