Astrologer Baltus

Now you are ready to design astrologers face. I use dental floss to create the eyes area.
Insert needle at the base of the head and pull out between Rnds 13-14, skip next 5 sts, insert
needle und pull out at the base of the head.

Now take both threads and pull as tight as you can at


the same time pressing the eye sockets with your
thumb. Dont be afraid of pulling too tight. Tie a double
knot and fasten off.

Now for the mouth: Insert needle from the back of the head,
skip 6 rounds downwards from the eye sockets and pull needle
out.

Skip next 4 sts, insert needle and pull out at the back of the
head. Now take both threads and pull tight, tie a double knot
and fasten off.

Embroider the mouth with


pink embroidery floss with 2
straight sts.

Sew ears and nose to head (see pictures).

Sew legs to body:


Count off 5 rounds from the beginning of blue color,
insert needle between rounds 5 and 6.

Take one leg and pull through it and then through body
to the other leg, pull needle through second leg and
then through body at the beginning point. Pull on
threads and tie a double knot. Repeat if needed to
secure.

Attach hair on a straight line under the mouth, then
obliquely along the cheek to another ear.

Trim beard like this shape:

Here comes the tricky part: you need to untwist every


single hair so the beard looks full and fluffy. Take one hair
with the thumb and forefinger and untwist it, with the
smaller hook in the other hand split the hair into its
components.

Make the moustache the same way and trim so you can see the mouth

Work last sl st (after the 4th finger) as followed: Pull the loop through
the sts of both layers and grab a stitch lying on the fold line (indicated
with an arrow in the picture). Draw yarn through all 3 sts on hook.

Now for the thumb: ch 3, sl st 2 down the ch, insert hook through stitch lying in the lower round,
yarn over and draw yarn through that stitch (work sl st).

The left hand:

Work the right hand identical to the fingers, but you will work them differently.

Mantle
Using bright blue yarn and 2.0 mm hook.
Youll be working in rows (each row ends with ch 3) beginning with the neck. Join each row with sl
st.

Measure the body at the lowest point this


will be the length of your beginning ch. When
trying on the chain pull tight on it Baltus
must hardly get through the neck of his
mantle, so his clothes can fit perfectly!

Now for the collar:


Using white cotton yarn make ch of desired length this will be
the collar string. Sew lace to neck. Pull string through the holes in
the lace so you can tie the neck later.

Sew pompons to the string. Put some star-stickers on and


the mantel is done!

Now you can put the mantel on Baltus put it on over his
feet, that wont be easy, but the mantel will fit.

The book cover is crocheted and the pages made out of normal print paper (beige color). The
book wont open: it is just a decr for the astrologer. Crochet tightly.

Rows 2-9: 11 sc
Row 10: in front loops only 11 sc
Rows 11-12: 11 sc
Row 13: in back loops only 11 sc
Rows 14-21: 11 sc
Youve created the back of the book where youve worked in back
and front loops.

Now precut your book pages. The measurements of my pages


were 20 x 25 mm. Join pages with a strip of adhesive tape.

Ch 11, from second ch from hook work sc down the ch. Sew closure to the cover. Put some glue
on block of pages and place it inside of the cover, and then put some glue on the closure, place a
star-sticker on and press book, let it dry.
